raddo_tom 0 Posted March 1, 2009 Is there any difference between 16v g60 or vr6 interior looms? (the loom for fog light switch, heated rear screen switch, sterio etc etc??) Mine has been butchered so i'm thinking i'd rather replace the lot than fudge about trying to fix it.
Henny 0 Posted March 2, 2009 yes, the VR6 loom is slightly different from the earlier looms due to the change in the sunroof motor and a few other small bits and pieces... How much of a difference there is, I don't know...
raddo_tom 0 Posted March 2, 2009 so do you think that i could use say a early 16v loom to re do my g60 one?
Henny 0 Posted March 2, 2009 yup... if you've got a G60, the loom for the dash should be the same as that for a 16V... the only bit I know of that you'll have to be careful of is making sure that the dash had DIGITAL clocks for the odometer, as some of the early 16Vs had a mechanical odometer, and so don't have the same connections to the main dash instruments... raddo_tom 0 Posted March 2, 2009 excellent thanks :)
Henny 0 Posted March 2, 2009 if you're after a loom from a late (J-plate) G60, I have one for sale... There's no engine loom, (already been sold) but the rest of the loom is intact and in good condition... It's still attached to the car at the moment, but will be out next weekend, if you can wait that long... Call it £20 if you want it, and I'm only down the road in Congleton... 8)
vwdeviant 0 Posted March 2, 2009 Now there's the sign of an ex MOD turns a request to a sale! Tom read your "pain" thread... best way to go replace all in one go! I too have some "Temporary" repairs, but think they were done by the Pikeys I paid to put the old Stereo/alarm in! Moral of that story don't trust ICE shops with Skyline GTS as demo cars!
raddo_tom 0 Posted March 2, 2009 lol! That's what i'm thinking. The dash loom can't be that difficult to remove and re fit can it??
Lufbramatt 0 Posted March 2, 2009 i replaced the dash loom on my B3 passat with one from a B4, and apart from one or two plugs being slightly different (ie for the little ashtray lights etc) it was a straight swap. However there are some useful differences to the late looms that that make it a worthwhile mod- the stereo power plug has a permanent and switched live, dash lighting feed and the GALA feed (speed pulse signal) which is useful if you have the "get louder when you go faster" function on your headunit. I'd assume these same differences were also present on the early/late rado dash looms, as teh rado and passat dashboards are very similar.
