Flexso 0 Posted April 10, 2009 Hello all, I have been on the forum for a while now and thought it was about time I showed you all my corrado. I have been a VW fan and owner since I started driving. Had an mk1 Golf cabriolet GTI, mk2 golf GTI 8v and 16v. Unfortunately I did steer away fropm the scene when I bought a MR2 Turbo (which I still own) But now back on the scene with a 16v pearl grey corrado that I picked up in west London. Quick bit of history. Its got stamps all the way upto 95k from specialist like Scotts in London. I bought it in august 08 in standard condition (or so I thought) with some horrible 5 spoke halford wheels on it. After looking in the engine bay closer, I found it had a four branch manifold but no other mods at all. Then on the bonnet there was a sticker plate from Oettinger. (search oettinger???? and you will see the topic) I still looking into the hidden history behind this car. Anywho, here are some piccies. Tell me what you guys think. I have put a before, middle and after on there.

Flexso 0 Posted April 10, 2009 I do on this thread. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=77265 Im gonna be taking the inlet manifold off in the next week and having a look inside to see any traces of porting or polishing. I have been servicing the car myself and also fixed a few broken bits in the car like the elec windows. Apart from that the changes I have made are: Jetex full system (the original was rusted to pieces) exterior grille/brow. Repaint of all badges. rear wiper removed all rear red lights lowered 40mm. (not happy so coilovers are coming soon) e30 BBS alloys which i love. They give a slighty more aggressive look compared to the g60 BBS. German style plates Clear indicators. The list looks pretty poor when I look at some of the members galleries on here. But im getting there. Gonna be working a the bodywork soon. Repainting the rear bumper and sorting out some tiny rust spots on the front arches that have reared there ugle heads recently.
mrbeige 0 Posted April 10, 2009 What would be interesting is to get it on a rolling road, to see if Oettinger fettling has 'helped' ;)
Flexso 0 Posted April 11, 2009 I will be doing that soopn actually. One thing is i have a fairly large oil leak. Gonna be jacking it up tomoz to see where its coming from. Also little update: Have just bought grooved discs and green stuff pads so they will be going on soon.
Flexso 0 Posted April 12, 2009 Quick update of pics I said I would post. Got one of the 4 branch mani that on it. new jetex exhaust, red rear etc. See what you guys think.
Flexso 0 Posted May 3, 2009 I have just upgraded the brakes now on the car. green stuff pads and grooved disc from a company called CRN performance. Also took it to the new Westfield shopping centre in Shepards Bush. The parking there is sooooo easy, as you will see from the photos.
Flexso 0 Posted June 3, 2009 Right little update on things done to the car...... I have been trying to put right the little bits and pieces that VW seem to have got wrong the first time round. So changed the wipers to lupo GTI ones. Massive difference and would recommend it to everyone as the normal ones are poo! Also got to big up daves16v for supplying me with the bracket for my centre console that was flapping round all over the place. Also his door handle repair kit is spot on as well. So pretty much all the essentials are done on the car now. Next on the list is the engine bay. Unfortunately I'm not as handy as some of the people on here so wont be doing any sort of engine transplant. But I am hoping to end up with a very nice polished but original bay. Polished rocker has already been sourced. 50mm inlet is on its way. Im also planning on black glossing alot of the black plastic items (fan cover etc) not sure it will look tacky though  Has anyone on here done this? Also has anyone polished both inlet and rocker? Do you think it will look a bit OTT? I will also hopefully be getting some answers about my 'oettinger' engine. Gonna pop it on a rolling road in the nexty couple of weeks to see what the output is. Am I correct in saying a 16v is 136BHP standard?
davidwort 0 Posted June 3, 2009 expect to see around 110bhp at the wheels on a healthy valver (and about 125 torques), calculated crank hp will be all over the place, so don't believe the 50bhp transmission losses they come up with :) if the modified engine is still a 1.8 then with a flowed head, manifold and cams it should be puming out around 130/5 ATW. Flexso 0 Posted June 3, 2009 I didnt realise it would be as low as that to start with David. Guess I was going on the readout on the knowledge base. We will see what happens. I will either be taking it to Surrey rolling road or another I have found just outside reading.
davidwort 0 Posted June 3, 2009 136/139 is what VW quoted for the KR engine, with transmission/tyre losses that usually equates to around 15-20% lower, it's not as bad as you think because I've seen plenty of VR's put down around 140bhp ATW, around 30bhp more than standard valvers on the same day. Just remember a rolling road is more useful for tuning purposes on the same vehicle than accurate car to car output comparisons, just too many variables to provide accurate numbers of use between vehicles. Flexso 0 Posted June 3, 2009 Thanks for the into David. Just want try and get to the bottom of this oettinger engine possibilty.

Apperently there still up and running in the UK. http://www.oettinger.de Cheers I had a look into their website but didnt help im afraid. My Car has alot of history from Scotts in Sloane Sq. Which in the 80s and 90s did alot of oettinger gear on the new cars (engines, wheels, kits etc) I will be calling them up and seeing if I can get some history. Also gonna try and find the old owners details from the 90s.
Flexso 0 Posted June 3, 2009 I've seen this a few times in Twickenham, lovely colour! Thanks Young dub. Its cleaned every week. I havent seen yours about? Were are you based in West London? Only one I have seen local is a standard green 16v in Teddington.
young dub 0 Posted June 3, 2009 I'm based near Heathrow but I don't drive the corrado in my avatar, that's my bro's old one. I drive a dark blue polo with similar wheels to yours, you'll most likely spot me in the area on a match day ;)

Always good to have a fellow dubber in the area. Funny enough my next door neighbour is massively into dubbs aswell. He has a mk1 golf gti and a mk3 golf vr6

Flexso 0 Posted June 4, 2009 are they the bbs wheels off an e30?? Yep, they are indeed. Really nice fit. You get a wider stance than you do with the bbs g60 wheels.

Flexso 0 Posted June 16, 2009 Right have just come back from the nurgburgring!!!!! Oh my god it is amazing! Anyone who hasnt been who is into car must go!! Unfortunately my car did not come with me :( So.... I need some advise. Any help will be more than welcome Im gonna be preping my 16v for the next trip to the ring. He is the list of bits I think I should do: upper and lower front strut braces rear strut brace. better shocks and suspension. better tyres (r888?) bucket seats (anyone know how to fit them? do I weld corrado subframes to them?) seat harnesses. Samco hoses full service Oil cooler (will this help with a 16v) back seats removed. Do you reckon these changes will turn it into a nurgburgring weapon? I have no intention of timing my laps. I just want to be fully prepared and safe. OR I have been thinking about trading in my 16v for a g60. :confused4: Do you think a g60 would be a better option to use on the ring?
