TajMan 0 Posted December 27, 2003 Where can I buy the parts I need to rebuild my supercharger? Can you buy any of them from the VW dealerships? I found this website: http://www.nwlink.com/~vdb/vw/Engine/G60_Rebuild_Parts.html and it lists some part numbers but a lot of them are from different sources. I found the little belt and some of the seals at a place called Motion Industries (from that site). Is there a definite list of the bearings/seals to be replace in a standard OEM rebuild? That site has some long lists of stuff you probably don't need. The main thing I need to know is where I can buy the apex strips at. I just found one of my strips stuck inside the silencer box on the outlet of the supercharger. :(
spoier 0 Posted December 29, 2003 I have a rebuild kit I bought this summer but never used from "alieblang" on ebay for $175 + shipping, you can have it for $175 including shipping Here's the description: In this auction you can win a rebuild kit for all g-superchargers. The kit is for Corrado, Golf or Passat G60. All parts in this kit are brand new and original. There are original apex strips, a wide timing belt (11,3mm), oil seals from NAK and a few sealing rings and some circlips. This parts are the best you could get for your supercharger! They came direct from germany. - alieblang I have a pic of all the stuff around here somewhere, I'll upload it tonight Edit: Here we are........ h100vw 0 Posted December 30, 2003 The main thing I need to know is where I can buy the apex strips at. I just found one of my strips stuck inside the silencer box on the outlet of the supercharger. :( Dude, Not wishing to spoil your day but finding pieces of Apex strip in your silcencer box would normally be classed as bad news. For that to happen there would need to be some excessive wear in the charger. By all means break it open and have a look. I have rebuilt a couple my self and it's not rocket science. Having the right tools and some engineering experience is far more important. If you have any doubt about your ability, have a professional look at it. Go to the G60 part of http://www.vwvortex.com. There is a rebuilder thread stuck at the top. Make your choice and send it away. KK do a tune up/inspection deal which may be up your street. Gavin EDIT. Not trying to do you out of a sale, Skye. :)
TajMan 0 Posted December 30, 2003 Yeah I know its not good. I didn't find pieces of apex strips, I found one whole strip. I'm taking it apart now to look at it. Right now I'm just trying to get the car running again as cheaply as possible so I can sell it, I'm not sending my charger in anywhere. Even if the charger needs to be totally re-done, I just want to get it good enough so that its running and boosting again. The thing hasn't grenaded yet so I don't think its that bad. Spykee 0 Posted January 1, 2004 The thing hasn't grenaded yet so I don't think its that bad. YET being the operative word, from personal experience i wouldnt even turn the key over if you had a whole apex strip in there, get the charger off and if you have to drive it it will run fine with a bit of DIY pipe work, thats how my car is running at the moment cos my supercharger did grenade unfortunately!! if you are looking at making some money on the car the last thing you want is to have that blow, doubt you would make any money back on it if it does! :?
