garrett 0 Posted April 15, 2009 Hi, I'm Leigh (Garrett). I have owned my Corrado since late last year and wouldn't normally start up a thread as I don't keep cars very long, but absolutely loving Corrado ownership, so I will be hanging on to this for a while! Best car I've owned by far and I have had my fair share (mostly dubs) over the last few years. I bought it locally after selling my fourth mk2 Golf. It was a very clean car, but needed some things sorting. This is the car the morning after I bought it, had to leave it in the drive as it wasn't insured and take the bus to the train station! Issues were: Rear suspension was original but fronts were H&R coilovers - so dodgy ride height! Front lip was colour coded white Wheels centre caps were yellow instead of silver (paint had been removed by jet wash) Good clean VW badges front and rear were tired I put on a black front badge from my old Golf GTi and painted the centre caps silver (wrong shade!) Then madly bought a TA Technix coilover kit and just used the rears. Sold the fronts for silly money. Also painted the lip matt black around this time. Crap pic but ride height better: Then purchased some G60 steels and pressed plates (really liked this look): Around this time I also painted the rear Corrado badge black and re-painted the rear badge black as my previous attempt was rubbsh! A week and a half after I had put the G60's on these turned up on Edition 38: Did a PX on the G60's and went down to Milton Keynes to swap over (in the dark!). Another crap pic! Decided to matt black them (removed 16v badge from front too): More to come...

garrett 0 Posted April 15, 2009 After egging on a couple of the other All Star guys to paint their prized BBS splits lairy colours and also being unhappy with the quality of my matt black paint job I did this: I was shocked as it was meant to be a dark colour. Left it to a graff-er mate to get the (Montana) paint from his supplier. Then got some orange tinting spray to create these: This is how it stands now. Not 100% about it, but it certainly gets some looks! Future plans are I will be painting the ABT's matt black again and putting some clear indicators back on. I am toying with putting 165/50 tyres on some refurbed sebrings to make it OEM again but using spacers to give it some added stance. All comments welcome... garrett 0 Posted April 15, 2009 And now you have ruined it.. Hey if you dont try sometimes you just don't know do you  I know! I'd never do anything to it that couldn't be reversed. It does look better in the flesh honest! I know what I'll be doing Saturday morning with a job lot of Matt Black!
vwdeviant 0 Posted April 15, 2009 Leigh, love this car... like the wheels against the paint, you could try top-tinted rears and detailed headlights to change the look front and rear...
fullpint 0 Posted April 15, 2009 I can see why some members made a comment on my White Valver having a white splitter...It does look better in 'black'..

cdem 0 Posted April 15, 2009 Splitter definitely looks better in black. Car looks smart though.....G60's are cool in my opinion!
garrett 0 Posted April 18, 2009 Thanks for the comments guys... Busy day today. Fixed my broken drivers door handle with a Daves16v repair kit. Took a while and 2 of us to get the pin out! But it now works like a dream! Painted my ABT's black again - nice weather for it! Lubed up my rear passenger caliper (drivers was replaced for MoT, this looks (and sometimes sounds) like it's on it's way out! Washed the car... ...then took it for a nice little drive! Another crap pic (taken outside the chippy a little while ago with my BlackBerry!) Keeping the front indicators orange for the minute. Not sure what to do indicator wise at the moment.... james28 0 Posted April 18, 2009 car looks great glad you painted them wheels from that horrible purple yuk :gag:
garrett 0 Posted May 13, 2009 Bit of an update. All problems though! Turns out 2 of my wheels have an offset of ET35 and 2 have ET30. I discovered this by shredding the outside of the rear passenger tyre (ET30) and getting suspension rub, albeit mild, on the rear driver (ET35)! So I now have both ET30 on the rear and have raised the ride height. But am now on the lookout for 195 width tyres! Kerbed one of wheels and took out a chunk of tyre. The car will not hold any water, I am filling it up every 2 days. Still love the car though!!!

vwdeviant 0 Posted May 13, 2009 Leigh, may have some p-worn 195/45/16 you can have soon... What's the water issue? Any ideas?
garrett 0 Posted May 13, 2009 Leigh, may have some p-worn 195/45/16 you can have soon... What's the water issue? Any ideas? Jon, definitely interested in the tyres. I assume it's leaking out of somewhere. Where I don't know. Job for the weekend. Has been using water slowly, but has sped up of late. All happened since I did a flush, maybe the pipe I took off perished or wasn't put back properly?
vwdeviant 0 Posted May 13, 2009 Leigh, check the horse-shoe pipes by the oil cooler, and also the head flange (under the intake at front, where mine was leaking) as it's plastic and quite fragile... both quite difficult to see leaks from... However sounds like a pretty obvious leak if it's twice a week refill!
tyler 0 Posted May 13, 2009 looks nice bud the g60 rims looked sweet :(
garrett 0 Posted May 14, 2009 OK, more on the water issue. Filled it to MAX yesterday morning. Drove it 2 miles to the station. Left it all day. Came back to it after work, lifted the bonnet, water is below MIN. No water on the floor though. Any ideas?????
garrett 0 Posted May 15, 2009 Booked in with the local German car specialist for Monday. Now filling it up on a daily basis! Guessing it's definitely a leak!!!

KIPVW 0 Posted May 15, 2009 Its just my early valver was doing exactly the same, used something like 2 litres a day but yet the oil looked ok and even the dealers said it wasn't the gasket but then i had huge amounts of white cloud almost like steam coming out the exhaust on start up. the trouble with leaks is that when everything gets warm it can expand and temporarilly seal the leakwhich is a bigger pain to track down. I think in the end i whacked in some redweld and that cured it, it was 12 or 13 years ago now so cant quite remember.
