Roger Blassberg 0 Posted April 22, 2009 I drained and refilled the gearbox yesterday, using 75W90 semi-synthetic oil to GL-5. Some sources /forums seem to raise doubts about this specification, arousing fears of damage to bearings/synchromesh made of phosphor bronze. 02 cable change gearbox type CTM. Any comments? Best wishes RB
davidwort 0 Posted April 22, 2009 my mk4 golf hated that stuff so much it would barely change gear once the box warmed up, but both that and the C like the VW fully synthetic very much.

davidwort 0 Posted April 22, 2009 Changed mine for Redline MT90 just this week. Has made an improvement, not huge but still an improvement. that's roughly the same spec as the VAG fully synthetic, they usually work out about the same price as you usually have to factor in a bit of postage on the Redline stuff. Dealers don't usually stock the VW fully synth, they have to order it in and it can take a while.
