== Chugging to halt issue ==

Recommended Posts

Morning guys, this is my first post since buying my K reg 2.0l Corrado about at 8months ago and i'm at my wits end with it.

I've had an issue with it recently where it seems to chug to a stop after 1hr of driving after it has been idle in traffic for a while at around 100'o; I leave it for 10mins and its ready to go again for another 10mins.

I thought originally it was due to some corroding parts so I gave it a full service; change air filter, spark plugs etc.

I then thought it might be due to a build up of residue in the fuel line so I pumped a bottle of redex through it...nothing.

Finally I took it into the overrated and ridiculously expensive Caffyns VW specialists locally and told them look over the engine cylinder head (which has had a bit of welding work done on it) heating matrix & to give the radiator a power flush obviously throwing back in the right ratio coolant...all is fine apparently.

...its not, same thing happened this morning.

Anyone take a guess as to the issue here so I don't have break the grand barrier in garage fees this month?

Cheers for the quick reply guys.

I've just ordered a new fuel relay, which i'll pick up at lunch & fit. Haven't done that before but it can't be too hard. Failing that the fuel pump will be next.

and failing all off that I'm going to use the engine as a BBQ this summer and just sit in it listening to music, looking like a plum. 8)

Cheers for all your help guys, I fitted a new relay and fuel pump, which sort of did the job. Instead of cutting out now it intermitantly hesitates in 2nd once/twice in a 1 hour journey. I reckon if I run in the pump a little more it should be fine.

I have gone and screwed up a little though. I managed to pull off the bolt and the end of my wiper spindle...prat.

This at least gets my ass in gear to do the Lupo conversion but looking out the window I doubt if i'll make it to weekend without the rain coming.

Aside from the conversion i'll still have to get hold of a new wiper spindle (as well as arms and blades)...anyone know of any decent distributors in the UK who might send a part this specific? I don't really want to buy the whole mech and even then couldn't be sure if it came with the wiper spindle.

cheers,
