Thanks for your help in advance! or would going the 16' route on 195/45 tyres and 60-80mm all round be a better option?
carpy25 0 Posted May 4, 2009 to maintain the correct gearing and speedo readout you have to keep the overall circumferance within say 5-10% so you should only be able to go as low with 17's as 16's for example 185 55 15 are the same as 195 50 15 are the same as 215 ?? 16 (can't remember if this one is right ) are the same as 205 40 17 , same overall dia just more alloy rim less tire wall , this may help http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/suspens ... hart2.html or this http://www.dsm.org/tools/tiresize.htm Rob

Finners 0 Posted May 4, 2009 I've had 4 in mine, with 17's and lowered about 40mm all round. I cant be exactly sure how much its lowered as i brought the car like it but i had no scrubbing at all
vwdeviant 0 Posted May 5, 2009 Assuming the 17's are 7.5 and ET35 then you'll be fine... When I was on the LM's mine was on 60mm dropeed springs then coilies (with about a 70mm drop) and were fine, no scrubing... (apart from the inner front arches at full lock! )
big ben 10 Posted May 5, 2009 you will be fine, i had it bit lower than 40mm on adjustable...
8vMatt 1 Posted May 13, 2009 Hi, My VR has 17"s and a 40mm drop. The only slight rubbing ever is on the drivers rear, the rear has 215/40/17 tyres. No rub on the front with 205/40/17. When the time comes I'll buy 205's for the rear.
