A5 VRX 0 Posted May 27, 2009 Want to do my engine mount on my VR6 (front) and wondered how you go about it, never done on before so haven't a clue where to start. Car will be on my driveway so no lifts available. So how do you do it? Ta Adam
swiftkid 1 Posted May 27, 2009 support the engine/gearbox with a jack, do not sit the sump directly on a jack as the weight could damage it, try support it underneath the join between the gearbox and engine or nearest you can to where the mount is so you can lift the weight off the engine mount. then there will be a bolt through the mount to the cross member and 2 or 3 fixing it onto the gearbox/engine, remove and replace. make sure the engine is supported well though as you don't want it moving whilst doing this. A5 VRX 0 Posted May 27, 2009 How do you get that top bolt out the mount, there is no room at all!
swiftkid 1 Posted May 27, 2009 ahh yes, that is a pain to get out. it comes very close to the oil cooler but you can just squeeze it out, undo it as far as you can with a spanner then try undo it with your hands or molegrips or similar
