Mk4 golf driveshaft (or part of)

Recommended Posts

Right my friend is having awful problems getting one tiny part he needs and im trying to help him out.

Hes after ring that holds the ball bearings in place on the inner nearside cv joint on a mk4 golf 1.8 non turbo (1999). some people are telling us we need a full driveshaft whilst others say cv joint but were getting prices of near £100 and because the 1.8 non turbo's are quite uncommon its hard to find one in the scrappers.

Wondering if anyone with some inside VW knowledge knows if we can just get that part or if not knows where we can get one from even if it has to be driveshaft although he shall not be paying £100 for one.

Cheers

I'm fairly sure he needs a new joint but has he checked with his local VW dealer? just incase it's a seperate part...

What's the engine code? Manual / Fr Wheel drive I assume...

Engine code is AGN, manual, fwd. He's rang VW but they just said you can only buy them as a driveshaft. VAGCAT shows a part number for it though.

Ok, well hopefully this will help - it's a multipage TIF file from ETKA, you need to use Microsoft Document Imaging to view...

I'd take the CV joint down to GSF and see if they can match it to one in a parts bin, chances are it's not unique to that car.

perhaps but the part we need is in quite a few bits!!! im not describing it very well to be honest, its like a ring with several holes in that slides over the end of the driveshaft where the ball bearings sit and none of the pictures i've seen give me 100% confidence its the right part
