fitting bucket seats?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Quick question. When fitting bucket seats to your corrado you have to source subframes. Has anyone used original corrado subframes? If so im guessing itsa a welding job? Is there any other things I need to worry about whilst fitting them?

thanks

Even when sourcing Corrado specific subframes more than likely the seats will sit too high, best bet for the correct height is to get the hard fixed mounts.

I used subframes from an old Polo I got from the scrappy for free. I painted them up satin black, then had some tabs welded on for the 4 side-mount holes on my Corbeau seat, and transferred the seatbelt clip.

Looks good I think, but a touch too high for my liking (I'm 6ft, and head is about an inch from the headlining = no helmet use).

Not ideal, but cheap and keeps the slide adjustment.

Yeah i have heard that if you dont use corrado subframes that you end up sitting quite high. I think I will acquire some corrado subframes.

I've used original corrado subframes, but had to modify them a lot - not much left of them :D I've welded few metal stripes on them, to have a place to mount a seat... It's difficult to explain, but I could take some pictures on weekend if you need...

On the other hand, I would agree with grey16 - the best is to use hard fixed mounts (but it also requires some fabrication), because otherwise it's difficult to put seat low enought and tight enought ...

I would love some pics if you could do. does anyone know where I could source the fixed mount subframes from?

i made up some frames using old corrado ones, trimmed them down then welded 40x40x3 angle along the sides even with full height adjust and it all the way back my head was in the ceiling and i sat way to close to the wheel. this was using a very thin seat that was mounted as deep as possible. I am quite tall but even if you were ave height, a simple botch on the frames wont really do!

I got my hard mounts directly from the recaro site, univeral mounts, position on the floor drill through to the bottom, bolt up using spreader plates (just a plate per side to spread the load) and your away

wow, I really feel like i have bit off more than I can chew. Does anyone know of any companies that have made a subframe for the corrado to take bucket seat but still use the runners?
