Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 6, 2004 Looks like an oil pressure sender wire, for an old VDO guage maybe? RE the water hoses, you've either got a jammed thermostat or an airlock. Try draining the block (black screw on the long plastic hose on the front of the block) and radiator and refilling with G12+ but do not fill up via the expansion tank, always fill through the rad top hose. Henny 0 Posted January 6, 2004 Looks like an oil pressure sender wire, for an old VDO guage maybe? yup, that was my instant reaction too... Also that it's got a straight red (IE no tracer colour or looming tape) is odd and points to an aftermarket fitment gauge sender... 8)

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 6, 2004 The thermostat is inside the black plastic box which is bolted to the gearbox side of the block, facing the battery. You can't miss it as it's where all the hoses meet up, just follow the yellow brick rad hose....! The coilpack (if fitted) will need to come off to make access easier, and then it's just a case of undoing the hex bolts (5mm head I think) and removing the stat housing from the block. You'll then see the stat. K
