electric window woes

Recommended Posts

Hi!

whats the easiest way to change the electric window motor in a 91 valver?

is it possible without drilling the rivets out?

its abit annoying having a widow maker jack in the door to hold the glass shut!

I havent looked at mine in any detail yet, but i will need to soon.

My guess is that you wont be able to do it without drilling out those rivets. The motor is part of the whole regulator / lifter setup. (That or its riveted onto the arm mechanism aswell).

Either way, the regular is mounted into the door by those rivets - it wont come out without them off.

As for holding the window up - Masking tape is a life saver. Run a few strips of that from the front of the window, over the door frame and back down the back of the window, give it some extra support.

If it's the mech then you need to drill them I'm afraid but if it has a Bosch motor then these can just about be replaced in situ, unfortunately the Siemens ones are different and can't be replaced separately to the whole regulator assembly.
