Oil Coolers

Recommended Posts

Gents (and possibly Ladies),

It's getting hotter by the day and I feel an oil cooler might be a good idea to keep the old girl running better.

Can anyone suggest ones that are good for a VR6, reasonable in price and the best place to fit em?

Thanks,

Weasel

Mocal must be number one choice for the VR - Stealth Racing do them but I'm sure there are plenty of other companies out there.

Just look in the advanced search for Mocal in the Engine or Suppliers forum (returning topics rather than posts).

Be aware that it can often be cheaper to buy the sandwhich plate from Mocal then buy the actual cooler from a different reputable company, that gives you the option to also choose your own hose length and ends depending on where you plan to fit it, rather then a kit. Bit more work but you can save an easy £50

that's good advice - take heed all those after a cooler setup!

slight thread hijack but do these places do coolers for 16v engines aswell?

yeah, it's essentially the same fitment and can be done with or without the existing heat exchanger with the right extension piece for the oil filter. Probably only want a relatively small cooler for a valver though and a thermostatic sandwich plate so it doesn't take the car all winter to warm up.
