Meth's BabyValver Project - New Rims & Dash Out

Recommended Posts

I bought her back in March time (2009) so havent had her that long - but realised the other day that I havent put anything up about her! So here goes:

I had been wanting a 'Rado ever since I was given a ride in one when I was 16. It was a VR6 and I knew then that it was the car I wanted to own when I was older! Anyway, ringing around insurance companies, and checking bank statements etc - I couldnt realy afford a VR6 and the insurance would have been rediculous! So I decided to start from the bottom, and work my way up :) I found a few but the vast majority were either asking silly money, or had been badly badly chavved. I didnt want another chavved car, or one that had been modified - because my experience of allready modified cars are that they are always done cheaply and badly and you can never realy trust what the spotty 17 year old has bodged to get his dirty g/f all excited. So anyway, after a few weeks I found my one :)

1990 G Plate 1.8 16v, 107/8k on the clocks when I bought her off the bay :help: She was pretty much standard, the guy had put awful looking wheels off a Polo on there, along with a Polo steering wheel and a dreadfull headunit :( But hey ho - it hadnt been chavved! I took the train about 150 miles to go and collect her, and drove her all the way home without a problem :)

So here she was when I bought her:

Got her back home and gave her a well needed clean!

I got her in March and MOT was up middle of May time - I thought it would be a good idea to get her in for a quick checkover / pre-MOT check to see if there was anything I was going to need to get done. The plan had always been to get to Run To The Sun in her so I had to get her MOT'd before we went!

:epicfail:

Rear brakes, handbrake, cracked windscreen, headlights, pedal rubbers, and a few other things. I was expecting to have to do a few bits to get her through MOT - after all, I bought her with the intention of wanting to work on her, so I would have been dissapointed if she had gone straight through. Anyway, long story short after;

3 MOT's

Recon rear callipers

New rear pads / discs / wheel bearings

New front pads / discs

New windscreen

Audi TT pedal rubbers

A few quid here and there and she was through! Hoorah! Off to Newquay!!!!!!!!!!

The day after my MOT we were on the road and off in convoy to RTTS :D Just scraped the MOT in time! To my amazement, she made it there and back, and a mini road trip whilst there without a hitch! Topped the coolant up once or twice and the rest was just petrol! I was amazed and so chuffed!

So after making it all that way and back - I decided that I would allow myself to fall in love and treat her accordingly :D Upon her return she was treated to a decent service, badgeless grill, front splitter, and FK coilovers :

Havent updated this in aaaaaages!

Done quite a bit since those photos, currently now has Azev A's on its feet and I personally prefer it! Rota's have been sold to someone on here (should be collected end of the month).

Yesterday I had the entire dash out (well as far as it could) and changed the elusive heater matrix... omg! Definately not a job I want on a regular basis!

Pics to follow tonight!
