MAF types

My car is a 1994 VR, and it has the early style "wire" MAF? I only realised this as mine was potentially in need of changing, I bought a one of the forum, it said for a late car, but have only now realised it doesnt fit? Has my car had a different engine fitted at some point? :cuckoo: I hope not

the early mafs are in an alloy housing and the later ones in a smaller black plastic housing.

The earlier type MAF was used until quite late. The very early VR6s had distributors and 6 pin MAFs, the later ones had coilpacks and initially 6 pin MAFs, before moving onto the 4 pin MAF.

Thanks for clearing that up. Was getting confused as the Euro Car Parts lists the later style MAF as 93 on, which is obviously incorrect (well I know now anyway) :lol:
