abs help

Recommended Posts

Hi there quite new to the forum brought a storm grey vr6 a few months back late 94 model and been spending a bit well alot of time restoring her to former glory will post some pics sometime soon. Seem to have an abs issue light goes on and then off with ignition but get a few miles down the road and the light comes on. Changed the abs eds ecu and just yesterday changed the abs pump but still the problem persists ,checked it with my vag com but cant seem to get any communication with the abs controller can find the engine ecu no problem. I have tried changing all the latency settings on the com port as discribed on the forum and the baud settings too but still no joy can only think its a wiring fault somewhere. Was thinking that maybe my only next step is to change the abs senors to try to cure the abs light coming on . if anyone has had the same sort of problems or has any ideas would greatly appreciate it . thanks in advance .

Clean sensors first, doesnt sound like major fault. Does the abs still work when the light is on?

It could be the pedal position sensor - this makes the abs light work as normal on start up on then off, then it only comes back on when you press the brakes. At least it did on mine.

Where abouts are you? if your near me I'll try my vagcom lead, it's a genuine ross-tech and seems to read units where the cheap ebay ones won't. Ended up buying it cause I got sick of comms errors and no connections with a copy lead.
