vagman 0 Posted November 8, 2009 MINTER! 8) I'd like to think its a tidy one after the ones i looked at  Got it from oldham from a real nice bloke, as for paint i think it has had a few touch ups here and there, i gave up looking for one with original paint job and this looked good enough for my budget as i want to spend a little on it. Been round it with a rag but it was virtualy as you see it when i picked it up. The interior is dark cloth, that too is very tidy.
vagman 0 Posted December 2, 2009 Hello folks, ok story so far, i have sorted the handling out and i now have a nice exhaust note from the car! I am looking at wheel selection now, got my eyes on a set of new Lenso BSX 16' Wheels as bbs splits seem to be put of my range! Also in the frame are new borbet A, can you please tell me if borbets will go on without arch mods and what set up would be the best? Any input is better than no input, thank you all again..... vagman 0 Posted December 7, 2009 Ok here's whats coming next... Not very good with the spanner side of things so i was wondering if there would be anyone in the lancashire area who is a bit of a whizz with the VR6 who would be kind enough to help me out one day after christmas? I am going to overhaul the cooling system next, as i have read the threads and i think my car is running a little hot!!! 114 OIL and around the 100 - 110 WATER. I want to replace parts... New rad, thermostat and housing, all senders, and switches for temps and such. Please tell me if i have missed something!? Also i have not really cained the car since i have bought it as i am worried about temps......... Like i said sorry about the pictures they are from the mobile, will get some when the sun comes out! All advice welcome alex
coullstar 0 Posted December 8, 2009 First thing is get some bike lube or copper grease on those coilovers threads. 2nd thing is you have a Superduke  . Sold mine a few weeks back, you have good taste.
vagman 0 Posted December 8, 2009 How do you mean on the treads? Lashings of grease or just a thin smear........ ....on the superduke.....what can i say top machine, you gotta love the thought of whats going on in the mind of sports bike riders when you make'um look like they are stood still
coullstar 0 Posted December 8, 2009 Just a covering, its like a protective layer. Try putting some on the adjuster plates. Its just keeps them from corroding after which they are near on impossible to move. Yeah Superduke is easily the best bike Ive had, maybe get another one next year but I lost all interest in road riding. Its just not fun enough anymore. Luckily I race supermoto and do some MX though. Car looks very clean by the way.
vagman 0 Posted January 17, 2010 Update! New shoes and interior  will get round to fitting the 90mm splitter when i can get it on the ramps.
Abdul 0 Posted January 17, 2010 Lovely car mate, lower the front a little to match the rear maybe?? Thats pretty much the same wheel and suspension set up that i used to have lol. The weitec's are pretty damn awesome. :D
vagman 0 Posted January 17, 2010 Thanks fella, thats just the way they set'um up at awsome. I am not one for tinkering around too much as it drives like a good one as it is, yeh the wheels..... cheap alternative to bbs but its the rubber that really counts and the toyos are working well too. vagman 0 Posted March 23, 2010 Got round to fitting all my new cooling system parts at the weekend, all went really well as it was the first time i have worked on the car myself, followed the cooling guide on here and it was a fairly simple task! Just took my time. Had the car out today and what a diffrence i saw in temps, in traffic or caining the car all was good and no leaks.
Critical_Mass 10 Posted March 23, 2010 Good man! Good to see someone just get stuck in :D Did you test the thermostat before you fitted it just in case?
vagman 0 Posted March 23, 2010 Yep dipped it in the kettle, also checked dash temp on first start up, top hose warm till about 70ish then bottom started to warm and open, it was at this point with no leaks and some reading on here that it was all worth while and very satisfying, also saved some cash from garage fees! I must admit tho, i was shitting myself at the start of the job

Yeah im the same, some tasks seem daunting but once you manage to start youre normally ok, OR if im not sure i always have a search on here.
MikLSP 0 Posted March 23, 2010 Looks like this is going to turn into a great car. How much do the full cooling job set you back?
vagman 0 Posted March 23, 2010 Looks like this is going to turn into a great car. How much do the full cooling job set you back? All in all it was about £380ish inc vat, Rad being £200inc vat from VW which was the killer! :mad2: But it was the rad and rad switch what i needed all my switches where fine just changed them for good mesure even the thermo housing was in good condition but every now and then there was a slight leak. Looking into the rear subframe overhaul next, got some weitecs on and was shoving it into corners today for the first time...... seemed a bit loose on the rear... bit like the front would steer then the back would a second later? Sound familiar..... any advice?
RichiePBay 0 Posted March 23, 2010 Hi, looks great, I just wondered if the wheels are the Lenso BSX's? I looked at these last year but at that time they didn't do 5 stud, custom drilled blanks were the only way to get the 5x100 pcd and I wasn't too sure about the offsets. What have you gone for in the end? Cheers,

Can dig out the receipt not sure if it will tell me on there tho
RichiePBay 0 Posted March 23, 2010 Yeah, it was Rimstyle I spoke to but they made it sound like they'd be sticky-out stretch tyre sort of look with the offset they offered. Yours look like a perfect fit. Wouldn't mind knowing the offsets if you've got them handy but no worries if not, I'll give them a ring again. Cheers

I went for the rim that would stick out most, they do have a very slight stretch but not dangerous looking.
