fla 9 Posted October 20, 2012 bit of an update here - removed the fan from the air handling unit, bearings were stiff. Managed to dismantle it down to the motor by drilling out the rivets, and then putting the motor plus fan into the oven. This warmed it sufficiently to allow the squirrel cage to be pressed off in between two large pieces of wood by tapping the centre shaft with a hammer and centre punch. Removed the two long screws holding the two end caps but the bearigs are captive so cannot be removed. In fact they're not bearings they are bushes so the only option is to soak some penetrating oil and then some good lube oil. I then ran the fan on 12v for a while to burn off any excess oil that had seeped in too far. Just need to get some rivets and a rivet gun to put the motor back on the base. This is only for those with aircon, as it is much cheaper and easier to replace the fan in a non-aircon car.
