krnau 0 Posted December 17, 2009 hi. I found a web site in my city that sells door rubber seals. I would like to replace the ones that are now in my car (which are totally cracked), but I would like to se some pics of a corrado ones' section. here you are the web site, http://www.exmolper.com/Gomas%20Puerta.html there are different types so if anyone has a picture of a corrad one, would avoid me taking mine apart :) thanks! quicky1980 0 Posted February 24, 2010 damn just checked and it's similar but not right :( Any idea what the minimum order would be to have some made up to match the rado shape? I'm sure loads of rado owners would be interested.

Hiya, I happen to be replacing mine at the minute and have a picture to hand... I've also been trying to find a door seal specialist and have found the following... I can buy this at £5.50 per metre plus £9.50 carriage (plus VAT). You need about 4m per door, I roughly measured this earlier today. I was gonna order 10m but if anybody wants me to order more and I can cut it up and see if we can save some cash? I'm gonna order next weekend so let me know by then if anybody is interested. The one that runs across the outside of the base of the window, just above the door handle going into the black plastic triangle. I havent got a profile of it but i'm sure someone else may do. Fla, you can still get this from vw. tbh i dont think this is an easy seal to make compared to the door type seals. these are extruded out and the seal you describe sounds like the one which is moulded. Yeah you're right, I don't think they'd make that kind of thing, they mainly just do the extrusions. Sorry bud. Jim

I'd need payment up front though if that's ok?? Andi will vouch for me :D Jim
joebloggsVR69 0 Posted March 29, 2010 Sure, no problem, just let me know when you need payment. Just thinking, is your seal falling apart at the same place as mine - where the two ends join..? Might be an idea to use the new seal for just along the bottom of the door frame, and keep the original seal for the for the rest of the door frame. That way the new rubber wont overhang as much :D Either way, I'll still take 10mtrs just incase I replace the whole thing.

That's an idea but multiple joins may lead to multiple failure/leak points in the future. Think I'd rather trim the overhang if I'm that bothered. Once I've done mine completely I'll take more photos and share... jim

monzablau16v 0 Posted August 3, 2010 i am looking to replace the seals on my car as well as they are split and letting water into the seal - not good for the sills! Has anyone else used sealsdirect.co.uk for the replacement seal? From the photos i can see it looks slightly different to the OE one but just need to know what impact (if any) this has on the door closing / shut lines etc..? Also - which seal is it on their website. Closest one i could find is ETS2581 £5.71 per m (works out £65 for 8 meters delivered...) thanks!

jimbobbalooba 0 Posted August 26, 2010 Hi Monza, I'm the guy who originally found these but I still haven't got to the point of ordering and fitting them myself. I'm doing a full restore on the rado and it's taking some time. The part number you need is DX90 at £5.50 per metere plus carriage and VAT. speak to Phil Howard at Seals Direct on 0845 226 3345. This part isn't on their website as far as I know which is why you can't find it. I did use the sample they sent me in various places around the fram to see any negative impact of using this rather than the original and I couldn't see any problems. The flat overhang is slightly longer which can be trimmed if you're that bothered. Sorry it's taken a while to reply buddy!! Good luck. Jim
monzablau16v 0 Posted August 28, 2010 cheers Jim. I'll give Phil a ring after the long weekend. good luck with the full resto! ta H
joebloggsVR69 0 Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) *BUMP* I gave Phil Howard at Seals Direct a call yesterday and asked for a sample piece, received it today! Excellent service :) The seal is now on their website, it's not listed under DX90 though, it now ETS2581. It's slightly different to the original seal - On the VW seal, the lip on the far left is positioned on top of the metal-toothed grippy bit, instead of to the left. But that's a minor thing, the seal fits well. Just ordered 9 meters worth to do both my doors.
