jedigtr 0 Posted January 22, 2004 My g/f's 1.8 16v is using coolant, it doesn't have any obvious leaks and no wet patches on the drive. The head gasket has been checked and is apparently ok, the car has, at the same time started to get really hot in traffic, I've replaced the expansion cap, just in case it wasn't holding pressure but its still doing it. RobyD 0 Posted January 22, 2004 Get more than one mechanic to check the head gasket. I had pretty much the same symptons so thought it might be the head gasket. A garage tested the coolant and said the gasket was fine. Turned out it was the gasket in the end. Always get a second/third opinion! Good luck Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
