heater blower removal

i cant seem to find a topic on replacing the heater blower motor. mine squaks like a good un and id like to take it out and either service it or replace it.

Non air con I assume?

 

Just remove the lower passenger shelf - 4 screws I think

 

The you will see the motor, unplug the 5 pin connector to the resister pack

 

The motor kind of clips into a bayonet fitting so take note of orrientation

 

There is a plastic locking tab on the right as you look at it, use a torch to see.

 

Screwdriver maybe to release it as you turn the unit.

 

Then resistor pack just unclips at the bottom with the 2 wires.

first time I tried to remove one of these on a Passat it took me half an hour of hacking at the plastic enclosure, felt majorly stupid when I found the plastic tab, lift tab twist and it just drops out in 2 secs :epicfail:

cheers. will prob get round to that this week. found a valver in a scrappy near me so may strip some bits off that inc. the blower if she's knackered. thanks for the advice :D
