knife's VR6

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Just thought I'd introduce myself and my "new" motor.

It's a 1996 N pearl black VR6. Completely standard, even down to the cassette radio (that won't last long)!

Picked it up last weekend for a tidy £3600 - not the cheapest around but no rust on the bodywork at all (okay one small spot under the spoiler), engine seems solid, all the electrics work (even the sunroof!). Well, the blower doesn't work but that shouldn't be hard to fix.

Fair price I thought.

I'm taking it to have a full service down at SE Autoworks in Guildford, as I'm sure it needs some work, but it generally seems alright, starts first time in the recent cold weather.

What do y'all think?

:)

Firstly I'll be sorting out the audio. I want a head unit that's iPhone compatible, and with bluetooth handsfree - I've sort of gotten used to that in my 2008 Fiesta which is going back to Ford! I'll probably amp the speakers too, and make use of the Apline 6x9s that a previous owner mounted in the parcel shelf (they're not connected at the moment)

Then, I might get some nice coilovers - Turbo makes a good point there, you could have a picnic under those wheel arches.

I'm not going to mess with the engine much (my insurance would kill me) but I might get an induction kit just for the throaty sound.

I might get another set of lights and get to work on a shiny red tint as documented here, and I'd also like to get a rear-facing camera and a little screen hidden in the sun visor - I don't want the car to look like X-to-the-Z has had a field day but I would like better rear visibility!

The alloys have recently been refurbished and they're looking good so I doubt I'll change them.

Needs a good clean inside and out, I think it'll look great with that showroom shine!
