280mm brake question

I have a 1.8 16v and i'm planning on putting 280mm brakes on it. The brakes i got are from a mk3 golf GTI 5 stud, so obviously i will need G60 discs.

But are the carriers a straight fit too?

yep all the same as G60/corrado VR6 brakes, as long as you are sure you got early mk3 280's and not the later ATE 288's.

eh? wouldn't the big pads of the ATE 288's hang over the sides of a 280 disc???

so are all corrado calipers and carriers the same? can you fit 288 discs on a 16v kr? or is biggests 280s? do you need anything else other than discs?

So 288 would need redriling , can you use the 280s with g60/vr carriers and kr calipers?

16v calipers will work with the correct carriers yes.

so if all calipers are the same (vr/kr/g60)

all i need for 280s is

g60 280 discs

g60 or early mk3 gti carriers

and can just use my kr calipers?

kr carriers no good. need g60 ones.

 

kr calipers are not the same as g60/vr6 ones butuse the the same shape pads.

 

only real difference is the thickness of the pads you use, thinner by 3mm in kr ones.

 

but yes you can get away with just discs and carriers if needs be.
