VR6 Engine movement?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering how much you can push the engine around in your engine bay. A bit of a random question I know but last night whilst checking my oil I thought, hey I wonder how much it moves around. So I tried pushing it left and right and back and forwards.

I tried this because when I was having a look at my oil cooler from above to check there was no leaks I noticed the front engine mount rubber has sort of cleaned a few mm around the itself. Only left and right side of it. (Hope you understand what I mean)

Does any of you guys have a we clean bit either side of the absorber. Just hoping it not too slack or something. Perhaps the absorbers had it?! Dont fancy replacing that bad boy.

cheers

Just search for "VR6 AND engine AND mount" ..... been asked before so you should find the answer.

Edit: and moving to Servicing.

Get someone else to rev the engine and have a look at the upward movement, obviuosly there is some but there should not be much as there is not a huge amount of clearence between engine and bonnet risking damaging the MAF etc
