Carl 0 Posted January 28, 2004 Hi, Firstly I have searched the forums and can't seem to find any infos and I have tried the 'cleaning brushes' technique to no avail. Symptoms When spolier goes down it gets stuck about half way down, the motor gradually coming to a halt it would seem. It does it a) automatically (eventaully blows the fuse) b)when i operate it with the switch on dashboard c)when i use the twisty thing to manually raise or lower spoiler What to do? I pulled the twisty thing out and can run the spoiler motor back and forth via the switch on dash no probs. Spolier Motor is OK? Tried the 'cleaning brushes' and also tried some lube into spolier strut area from external spoiler mounting point. I hope that all my information is clear. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Supercharged 2 Posted January 28, 2004 hmmm, is the spoiler straight, ie parallel to the boot as it comes down??
Carl 0 Posted January 28, 2004 hard to say m8, might be slightly off, hang on, one side appears to beat the other to the top position.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 28, 2004 Was it OK prior to the current cold weather snap? A few people seem to have theirs freeze up but mine seems OK. K

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 28, 2004 Hmmm....might be worth removing the motor and seeing if the spoiler moves up and down freely by hand? It's going to be one or more of 3 things really, 1) the motor losing it's strength, 2) wiring/control box (clipped to the dash under the right heater vent) or 3) misalignment of the spoiler guides/mechanism, not that there's a lot you can do to adjust it but there must be means of setting it up, so to speak. Sorry that's not much help, all you can do is have a play when the weather lets up. K

I think thats whats causing it to jam then, you need to look at the allignment, I think it can be adjusted by the allen bolts that hold the spoiler to the mech
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 29, 2004 I think the allen bolts just hold the spoiler onto the lifting tubes.
