strimmer 0 Posted April 13, 2010 Here is a link I'm afraid, I started this build thread on the Scottish VAG site, agreed it really should have started here being the true home of all things Corrado. http://www.scottishvag.net/phpBB3/viewt ... &sk=t&sd=a I'd really appreciate finding out from anyone how old are Corrado's still on the road as mine was first registered in October '89 and my gearbox was built in July '89 I imagine the car will be one of the first, started in May '89 I think.... anyone else celebrating their Corrado's 21st birthday this year? strimmer 0 Posted April 18, 2010 Engine oot today, lifted the engine and gearbox out as one, took 4 guys to manage it out onto a pallet as we have the car in a sloped gravel driveway there was no way to use traditional methods, hoists, pallet trucks etc............. Pics to follow

eugopnosaj 0 Posted April 18, 2010 We pulled the whole front section out of the donor when i did mine: subframe, springs, wheels etc, we didnt have a hoist so it was the easiest way to do it! haha

strimmer 0 Posted April 18, 2010 Heh congratulations on your new ownership, I've no doubt you'll be very pleased right now, I remember smiling for ages after I bought mine. I've got first registration October 1989 and in the next few months I'm purchasing a certificate from VW which I hope will tell me the date of manufacture from the factory. http://automuseum.volkswagen.de/urkunden.html?&L=1 Corrados look great in white, is it this one - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1989-VOLKSWAGEN-C ... 3a59a7afe6
RedRado 0 Posted April 19, 2010 Mine's a right youth - 20 next month registered 17 May 1990. I will check plastics for manufacture date. I used to have the same car in 93 which was registered Feb 90, early no sunroof model. Good luck with the rebuild - I'm on the mild resto path with mine. I like the resto path, apart from the core engine, drivetrain major underskin stuff the body, interior and general look of the car is remaining as original as poss. well everything in the looks dept apart from the ride height tbh. Yeah thats it!! I know, I used to love coming back into the livingroom as the car was right outside the window in the driveway  Great timing, I see the CCGB Scottish Road Rally is coming up for you DiElBramz :)

Got a great tip from Danster on clubgti to support the front engine mount so we can transport the car in the near future.
