plummer 0 Posted April 22, 2010 Just after having the Corrado serviced by the local VW stealer and am seeing a worse mpg than before the service. My daily run to work pre-service used to result in a mpg reading on the MFA of 28.8 or 29.9 consistently, now however I am getting a reading of 25.7 plus or minus 0.1. Would this be normal for a VR Corrado after a service(oil change)?. Cheers, Paul.
Critical_Mass 10 Posted April 22, 2010 Reset the MPG gauge first by holding the switch on the stalk on zero. Has it just had oil and filter changes?

Conker 0 Posted April 23, 2010 First thing I would check is that all the vac pipes are still connected properly.
andy 0 Posted April 23, 2010 No its definately not normal, you shouldn't notice any difference. Something else has been disturbed or developed a fault.
Critical_Mass 10 Posted April 23, 2010 I dont see what could have been disturbed if they've only changed the oil and oil filter and even air filter. Possible disturbed the MAF connection on the air intake if they've changed air filter, but then you'd expect irratic running then.
davidwort 0 Posted April 23, 2010 god knows, being a VW dealer anything could have happened, might have jacked the car up under the CAT  seriously though, I'd check for anything broken/unplugged under the bonnet, especially around the oil filter area. They might even have lowered your tyre pressures, there's always the chance some numpty saw 205's on the car and assumed 25lb/ft was right? Don't rule out coincidence though, something may just have given up/started playing up

plummer 0 Posted May 24, 2010 The front passenger side caliper was sticking causing the fuel consumption to go up. Replacing the brake line to the capliper appers to have sorted the issue. Thanks for the advice.
Jim 2 Posted May 24, 2010 Sounds like a thorough service from VW then if they didn't pick that up!
