B41LEY's Moonlight Blue VR6

Recommended Posts

Realised i've spent far too long on here admiring photo's of other people's cars and never posted any of mine! So here goes -

stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfSDC10734.JPG[/attachment:100kz2lo]

Purchased the car back in October 2008 from a bloke who lived just outside Bath, it had been used mainly by his wife in their 7 years of ownership. I had owned a 92 16v before and like most people made the progression upto a VR. It had 97,500 miles on the clock with full history. There was no major faults but like every car you ever buy there was several small things to sort such as cracked indicators and fogs, rotten sunroof seal, paint flaking rear bumper etc etc

Anyway in the year and half ownership i have put 16,000 miles on the clock, replaced the rear bumper, fitted a stainless exhaust, fitted a k&n induction kit, red tinted the rear lights, lamin-x'd the headlights, replaced the indicators and fogs, new sunroof seal and a host of other small bits and bobs

Late in 2009 the car began using a lot of water and oil, most of it coming out of the exhaust as steam and blue smoke! At that time i decided if i was going to spend money on it i might aswel get all the engine work done in one big go, so out came the engine and work done was - head skimmed, new headgasket, new piston rings, new clutch, new radiator, new timing chains, new water pump and numerous new hoses etc etc.

So with all my money going into the engine bay and nothing really to "show" for it i've had to wait til i can afford to spend money on the "looks" department. Recently "conker" on here was selling a set of wheels which i fell in love with and after some messing about with wheel spacers i got them to fit. I think they really suit the car, yes i know its perhaps a bit high but the whole suspension is due an overhaul in the next year so we'll see what i can afford.

Here's some more photo's i took this morning. Looks grrreat!

Doesn't need dropping by much IMO - it looks a lot better than I thought it would on stock springs.

Looks really really good mate, I'm pleased you've finally been able to do something cosmetic rather than focusing all of your attention on the oily bits :D

Wish I could make it to Stanford this weekend mate but work commitments don't allow, however we'll have to convoy to a show soon!
