Is this bracket supposed to be in the Corrado as well?

Seeing on my Passat VR6 there is this bracket that goes from the gear box and back to the rear engine mount.

 

Is this supposed to be on the Corrado as well? (can't remember if I removed it when I first took out the engine).

The passat has the same "bracket" as the corrado in the rear of the gear box.

can't remember I removed it, so guess it might have been lost by a former owner or something...:(

My friends corrado vr6 has never had one, I fitted one on mine, not sure how nesacary they are. On mk2s they used to be there for the clutch cable.

I'v gotten many replies over at vortex - and it seem that it should be there, as one of the guys mentioned he had seen several C's with the rear aluminium bracket broken, due to this bracket been taken away.

 

It also shows up in VW part catalog.

 

I'v fitted one now from my passat part car :)

early 4cyl cars have them, later cars and VR's don't

you'll not see them on mk4 1.8T cars either, don't think they serve any purpose TBH,

perhaps they were intended as extra bracing/support on the early 02A gearbox cars, but VW seem to have just deleted them after about 1992
