CazzaVR 0 Posted March 13, 2003 Got the car serviced and MOT'd today- thankfully it passed with flying colours. However, on driving home there was a really loud vibration coming from the exhaust. When it was first fitted it had this (only not nearly as bad), but I got it sorted by a local VW specialist, only for this to happen today! It's so loud, my mate said it sounded like a tractor when I drove past him  Gonna complain tomorrow....... Kevin Bacon 5 Posted March 13, 2003 They probably disturbed something when they did the old exhaust shake to check it's secured to the car properly. I wouldn't be too peeved though as they may have inadvertantly uncovered an underlying problem? Cheers Kev 94 VR6
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted March 13, 2003 Out of interest, why the change from G60 to normally aspirated 16V? Kev
jims corrado 0 Posted March 13, 2003 just a thought, when my wife drove a rover 214 (sorry!) the cat started to disintegrate and a piece of it rattled its way down the exhaust. although it still passed the mot for emissions, it sounded like someone shaking a baked bean can full of nuts and bolts (commonly known as a FIAT). could this be what has happened? jim
CazzaVR 0 Posted March 14, 2003 I'm booking it in today at a 'competent' VW specialist- they should be able to sort it. Kev, changed the G60 'cos it was costing me an arm and a leg- it was one thing after another! Miss the power, but will hopefully be getting a VR in the next year or so :D Replaced the G60 with a very tidy Civic VTI, but missed having a C so much, I just had to get another and the 16v seemed the best option at the time. Only cost £2.5K too and I made a good profit on the VTI- all in all a good bit of business! 8)
CazzaVR 0 Posted March 14, 2003 It's being sorted on Monday, and they're changing the oil cooler and flushing the system at the same time (got a small amount of oil in the coolant). Hopefully everything will be OK after that :) .....until the next time!
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted March 14, 2003 Sorry, your signature reads like you've taken the G60 engine out and put a 2.0 16V one in it's place, not actually changing cars!! My mistake! Cheers Kev
CazzaVR 0 Posted March 19, 2003 Had the car sorted on Monday by a garage who know what they're doing! Running really well now 8)
