Induction Heatshield

Recommended Posts

What does everyone think of this?

V easy to make.

One sheet aluminium from B&Q - £11.00

One jigsaw Blade from B&Q - £4.00

Door edge protection strip from Halfords - £5.00

1 hour of my time - £FREE

Took a template with a cardboard box first, then copied onto the aluminium.

I left a little excess on, and then a bit of trial and error to get the fit right.

Two screws and a large cable tie later, I have an induction heatshield :D

Looks very good!

It doesn't look like the shield meets the bonnet, so why not cover the top of the shield as well so that it can draw air through the hole left by the carbon can?

If anybody is still wondering what happened to these heatshields, the latest news is, I hopefully have the final shield ready to fit to DEL's car.

I've been in touch with DELVR6 recently and he can come over for the fitting this week unless something crops up.

DEL???

If everything goes ok with the fit, hopefully this week, then I'll release it by the weekend.

Hi guys,

Can anyone email the template, just want to check against my own hamfisted drawing!

mailto:[email protected]

Am a teacher, planning an extra curricular session in the metal work room. Hey maybe I could get the kids to make em and then sell them on!

Any VR owners in Nottingham? Or anyone with a good template they can send Dave?

By the way, how much are your seat handles and do you have a bigger pic?

AndyVR6, The heatshield as it stands is almost complete so I don't need a template, perhaps another few hours development time and a VR.

The handles are £32 a pair all in.

Could someone send me a templet too please, I work for CORUS (formally Brittish Steel) so might be able to knock a few up for cheap out of Stainless :D

daves16v, Sorry about the above post, I didn't read on the previous pages that you planned to sell these.

Could someone send me a templet just for my own use please?

Cheers

RACK

The big problem with trying to develop these is the need to have access to a VR and G60 regularly. I can't just have a car for just one time as I need to make prototypes and try them out and this will mean several fit-outs.

I've got a Jabbasport one, but not totally happy, hence why I want to make a new one. The one I'm planning on doing will come over the top of the cone as well as the side.

I'll try and knock a rough one up in the next couple of days and take a pic.

Or you could use a Jabbasport heatshield as a pattern to make one :D

Which could be arranged..,

Cheers,

Go ahead - arrange it, I'll be happy to look at it.

Dave
