Boot lock mechanism part number..

Recommended Posts

Discovered the other week that my boot lock mechanism was shagged. Siezed up and, after unseizing it and greasing it, found it wasn't locking properly still as the internals were boned.

Drove to Supercharged's place the other week and he had a spare which we fitted and which works. But now I want to get a replacement ASAP so I can send his back to him. Problem is, ETKA lists three different versions:

535 827 571 E - Button with lock cylinder

535 827 571 F - Button with lock cylinder for central locking system immobilizer

535 827 571 G - Button with lock cylinder for models with anti-theft alarm system immobilizer

There is no part number on the assembly itself so that's no use. My very reliable parts guy is stumped as well. Does anyone know which one I need for a 1995 VR6?

Thanks in advance.

I would say you could discount the first one as your car would have had central locking. Just need to find out if you just have an immobiliser or standard alarm aswell...... my logic

Aye.. I got that far in my process of elimination! ;)

Problem is which of the last two is it likely to be.

£44.65+VAT - and on backorder! Ian reckons 7-10 days. I'm gonna have another look at the old one in the boot that I removed, and see if it has a P/N anywhere on it this evening.

I asked about the aux gauges.. they're obsolete now :(

Go with the F suffix Jim as you did not have a factory fit alarm system.

You can still get aux gauges from ARZ for RHD if you are quick and want to pay the price they are asking..

Cheers Yan. Ordered that bit now. Asked Ian to check on DIALOG and see if the clocks are showing in any other dealerships.. just on the off chance. ETKA listed them at £130... a fair wedge less than the ARZ place!

535 827 571 F - Correct for later UK Corrados as (to my knowledge) the VW factory anti-theft alarm system wasn't fitted to or offered as an option on UK models. (Chassis 50RK 006001 onwards)

535 827 571 G - This lock mechanism has an additional micro-switch and connection on its side for connection the the VW anti-theft alarm system.

Brilliant. Thanks very much for clearing that up Chris.
