dazG60 0 Posted February 6, 2004 i have 3 keys 1 for the ign & drivers door (lhd) 1-pass ..& 1 for the boot -ive been told on a previous post that u can change the sliders in the barrel 2 fit the key! i took out the barrels ,only 2 find that the barrel from the passenger side is longer & different 2 the drivers door(original barrel lock) does this mean its come from a different/year car? Also is it possible 2 change the sliders in the boot lock to fit the original key :?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 6, 2004 You need to take along the barrel you want replicated to the dealer and they will make up some barrels to match it, but I'm not sure if they sell the sliders individually or not though. Does the ignition match the drivers lock? If so take the driver's barrel along as you don't want to be removing the igniton barrel as it's a pain in the arse. Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 6, 2004 Just get the dealer to make you a barrel for the passenger side and one for the boot, simple as!

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 6, 2004 I think they'll be about a tenner each. I paid £100 a few years ago to rebarrel an entire MK2 Golf (5 barrels) which included the £25 16V torch light key....
