dkingvr6 0 Posted September 2, 2010 Hi all, Just had mine done by Jack at Royal Steering Wheels, and really pleased with the finished item ROYAL STEERING WHEELS Mr J Mizerski ABINGDON e-mail: [email protected] mobile: +447894209349 Prices: - for leathers - 95GBP - leather + padding - 105GBP - Alcantara - 120GBP (different colours of stitching available)
Jim 2 Posted September 2, 2010 Nice! Doesn't look as good as OE finish, but given the significant difference in price between a retrim and a brand new wheel (£450!!) this is a great option for those with worn out steering wheels. Would be awesome to get a retrim done in the black leather and with stitching to match the paint colour of the car.... :)
davidwort 0 Posted September 2, 2010 purely a personal taste thing, but I've never really liked any of the VW wheels from this era, and you can get some very nicely trimmed aftermarket wheels for 100-150 quid, I'm sure custom re-trimming is time consuming and skilled work but at 100 quid or so it doesn't stack up for me. big ben 10 Posted September 2, 2010 i love my standard steering wheel, much better than the new styls everyone has started using, plain and simple, perfect size as well...
dkingvr6 0 Posted September 2, 2010 The finish is pretty amazing i thought, and the stitching is as oem, yer the leather grain is a little coarse, but i think he was trying to match the plastic grain on the steering wheel, was also impressed that he managed to cover the lower part around the VW sign. All in all awesome for £

I'm the opposite. Not many other wheels I'd rather have on my car than the original VR6 leather one! So this is a good option for those die-hards like me ;)
Supercharged 2 Posted September 2, 2010 Yeah - I'd rather pay £100 for a good retrim and kep it standard rather than fit a comedy Momo that looks tatty after a year!
