Cragel 0 Posted September 5, 2010 I don't know if I'm being a little thick here but I can't get the socket down the cylinder to remove the spark plug. The socket looks the same size as the ht lead nut will only go in a tiny bit, I don't want to force it then get it stuck. What am I doing wrong? It's a kr engine by the way. Thanks pepz. pummer67 0 Posted September 5, 2010 are you using a spark plug socket? A spark plug socket is deeper. If you are they normally come with some sort of rubber on when they are brand new and are a little stiff.
Yandards 0 Posted September 5, 2010 There are 2 types of spark plug socket, you want the smaller diameter one. If you go to Halfords etc you can see the 2 different types.
Cragel 0 Posted September 5, 2010 Yeah I'm using a 10mm socket. The smallest one.
Toad 0 Posted September 5, 2010 Use a 3/8" drive socket, not the 1/2", otherwise they can foul on the rocker cover gasket part way down the hole. Last thing you want is to get the socket stuck in the hole.
Cragel 0 Posted September 5, 2010 Ah ha! That's what's the problem then. I'll have to wait till Monday then and swap it at work. Thanks very much.
