Wheel Spacer Question...

I've got 16V on standard 4x100 set up and am thinking of getting some wheel spacers

 

What i want to know is, whats the maximum width i could go and is it best to just do to back or mix and match- Maybe 15mm on the backs and 10mm on the fronts? Not sure what that would do to the ET

 

Just generally want a wider look without any rubbing

I think the standard ET is 35.

Your ET will be reduced by the amount of your spacer (10/15mm).

This will give you ET front of 25mm and a rear of 20mm.

Is it ok to mix and match though? Say 20 on the back and 15 or 10 on the front

 

Say if i did do 20 on the back and 10 on the front would that then make the ET 5?

The best thing to do is measure (with your wheels fitted) the distance from the outside of the wheels to the arches. This will give you the most accurate figure to what spacers you can get away with. When adding spacers you don't really need to worry about the ET clearance for the callipers. I found making the rears 5mm wider gives a more even stance all round.

20mm spacer on the back would make the ET15.

Mixing different sizes front/back is fine is fine

It can upset the handling if you push your car to the limit, increasing the rear track more than the front will increase understeer, but it won't be noticable with everyday driving.

 

The other thing as well is, if you're going for spacers that big, you really should get hubcentric spacers.
