g60 chip/pulley fitting & charger service intervals

How technically difficult is it to change the supercharger pulley/shorter belt and the chip?

 

Is it something that any decent garage/DIY mechanic can undertake, or is it best left to the G60 specialists?

 

Also, what are the rebuild intervals for the charger? Ours has had a recent stage 2 (standard) rebuild, everything standard except 68mm pulley and chip.

 

I was thinking 40k before the next one?

Changing the bits is relatively straight forward, you could do it yourself if you have the tools. The only tricky bit IME is getting the belt tensioner back on. And make sure the woodruff key is lined up when you fit the new pulley.

I planed on changing this on mine but fell at the first hurdle of getting the charger pully off :-( no air tools means it wasnt coming off ended up leaving it till the charger was rebuilt, to be fair the small belt had been on there for 7 years and still looked in good condition although its recommended to change it once a year especialy if your running a smaller pully!

 

You can always check its condition by removing the plastic housing on the top of the charger you can get a good look at the belt and should be able to spot any fraying/splits etc.

The charger was rebuilt less than 10k ago, so the small belt should be fine, I hope

 

Does the small belt need to come off to change the pulley then?

Sorry mate I didnt read your post properly, I thought you wanted to change the small charger belt, no need to touch that if your just swapping out the pully and Aux belt, as domwells says the only real tricky part is getting the tensioner back on but a bit of weight on the end and you should be able to push it back on I have had mine on and off a few times by myself.
