Blackberry 0 Posted October 6, 2010 Morning All, I have a VR6 with suspected heater matrix failure. I'm considering selling it as it stands but would like your opinions as to what it is worth. The car has not been in use for 2 months, I start it every couple of weeks, last time I did steam came up from the dashboard, I turned the engine off straight away and noticed fluid dripping down into the footwells. It was silky like coolant which led me to belive it is the heater matrix. I'm not going to have time to fix it this side of xmas so thinking about selling.... It is a straight car, never been crashed. It took me six months to find and it has never let me down in 8 years! Totally original, no mods at all. Good Bits - M reg Blackberry VR6 Registered 31/12/94 120,000 miles I'm the 3rd or 4th owner, had it since May 2002 at 80,000 miles Black Leather interior Sunroof tilts & slides Decent service history (not fully stamped since I've had it as my bro services it ((ex VAG tech)) but I have all the reciepts for parts. Full closure factory fitted alarm Bad Bits - Body work is not great, been a daily drivers so plenty of scratches, car park dings etc Needs 1 x front foglight Interior fan only works on 3 or 4 & windscreen only! Hot & cold work fine Passenger seat folds forward intermittently (new bowden cable?) Suspect it will need rear axle bushes at next MOT (advisory at last MOT, late OCT 2009) Over to experts....... Thanks David
davidwort 0 Posted October 6, 2010 not the best description, but a lot rides on how good the leather is as that's worth a fair wedge in good condition. It really depends on what someone's willing to pay, but a clued up buyer is going to want something off the price to cover axle bushes and the matrix at least. I'd have thought you'd get over 1500 for it, but without seeing the car ain detail the price could vary by a grand I reckon. At least by-pass the matrix so a prospective buyer can drive it :)
Blackberry 0 Posted October 6, 2010 Thanks for that. I understand without seeing the car it is just a rough guess & that is fine. Not got many pics at work of the car but the frosty one is from Feb & the other pic from July The leather is good condition (mint in the back, very good passenger & good with slight wear on the driver seat) Can I by pass the heater matrix from the engine bay? Also what would it be worth if I did the matrix / bushes and gave her a fresh MOT?
davidwort 0 Posted October 6, 2010 you just need to connect the feed and return hoses together in the engine bay to by-pass the matrix, metal tube (copper pipe?) and a couple of jubilee clips. look for where the two water hoses go through the bulkhead. Blackberry 0 Posted October 6, 2010 That is excellent, Thanks very much
dukest 0 Posted October 6, 2010 Probably £2-2.5k and an easier sale if you fix the issues you list (excluding the bodywork).
easypops 8 Posted October 6, 2010 Totally original, no mods at all. Are you sure its not been lowered at some point?
Blackberry 0 Posted October 6, 2010 Easypops, well spotted - It has a loaded boot in that bottom pic hence the low stance. When the boot is empty it rides high & proud like all original VR's..... ;-
