Recommended Posts

Hi guys couldn't see anything after searching so here goes! my windows seem very slow, slower on some days than others! also they seem to REALLY dim my lights i've greased the motor and sprayed silicone on the runners but no joy! could it be the wiring is shite like the headlights? or just tired motors? cheers guys and gals of course

Tired motor probably. My driver's one is noticably slower than the passenger one (used more often) and is VERY slow when the weather's really cold. I've chucked loads of grease on mine too, didn't make any difference though.

Check the main Battery earth strap. It runs between the battery and the chassis (it also then bolts onto the gearbox!) I'll bet that it's geen and nasty! When it oxidises (goes green!) it becomes resistive so nothing in your car will get a full 12V any more to any electrical circuits, hence slow motors, dull lights etc...

VAG still sell 'em and they're about £25 IIRC... 8)

*edited a typo*

That's for the strap... The motor is part of the mechanism and can't be bought seperately IIRC... :?

That figures :?

C&R sell some Corrado window lifters made by some decent brand (Neuspeed I think) which are apparently OE quality, but faster and quieter.....could be an option for the future. About £150 a side I think....still not cheap, but bound to be less than VAG I would have thought?
