VR6 Lee 0 Posted November 18, 2010 I am thinking of buying a private reg off a friend of a friend but am a bit confused on a certain part. The reg is currently on retention and she has paid the £80 retention fee, the only thing I will have to pay is transfer off ownership which is £25. My question is if I transfer the ownership to my name does that mean I will have to pay the £80 fee to put it on my car ????

BILLCOR 1 Posted November 18, 2010 Get them to sign the assign to vehicle and the change nominee parts, then just take it along to your local DVLA office with the V5 and tax disc

fla 9 Posted November 18, 2010 what about the other way around - i bought my car with a private plate that i want to revert back to the origianl one shown in the log book. How do i get this done and is there a charge for this other than of course getting the original plates made again?
