Corrado 16v Project - Getting it back on the road

Picked up this bargain of a Corrado, i assume the amount of work that needs doing put people off:

 

 

Plan a complete overhaul and revamp of the car, to hopefully give me a cheery car that will be my daily driver and look pretty good.

 

The guy who had it before started a load of work and then couldn't be bothered to finish it off, so its been standing for a while. I'll keep this thread updated with pictures and would welcome comments and advice!

Dont approve of this, far to stiff and will create understeer/ fail MOT so its going soon:

 

For sale: I wish i had my own rolling road to set them up, but its an added complication I don't have the money and time to make the most of;

I also have the custom manifold for them for sale.

as a fellow 16v owner im going to be watching this one, good luck with it looks like you got your work cut out! how much you after for the carbs?

Haha yup, im not sure how much they are worth tbh, will do some research but the guy said they were un-used and that the manifold cost nearly £200 alone from Demon Tweeks. Do you rate the 16v's performance as standard? I'm not focussing on performance yet though!

I'm on my 2nd 16v, and would happily stay with them. The misses had a VR, but she prefers my valver. Just depends whether you want something that's fast in a straight line, or something you can throw round bends quicker. If it's the latter, the valver is better.

 

Oh, and if you're in need of any grey trim, let me know. We're in the process of replacing my interior with a black interior. I'll only be putting the grey up for sale on here sometime anyway.

the valvers perfomance is obviously not as great as a G60 / VR6 but i would say it makes up in the fun factor as said above. Theres lots you can do to get better performace though such as air box mods, good quality oil (perhaps the most iportant thing) ht leads, plugs, you get the picture...also put on vr6 brakes as i have just done and it drastically improves the braking and thus makes you go quicker!

Let me know when you come up with a price for the carbs, if the mani is going to be £200 il probs make my own but defo interested in the cars alone!

I'm thinkin maybe £250-300 for the whole lot tbh, they are brand new Dellorto Twin 40's but I wouldnt wan't to rip people off, would rather see them get some good use in a Corrado :)

how's the car coming along any more progress? im going to pass on the carbs as i was hoping to do a whole carb conversion for under £300 so maybe going the bike carb route... get some more pics up of the motor!

Hiya, no worries mate, i know all about being on a budget haha... i've read up massively on carbs and to set them up properly you could do with a friend and a rolling road in my opinion!

 

I'm a bit snowed under with uni work, but in about a week the engine should be completely sorted i hope! =]

I had a mk2(rest her soul) with 45 can't beat the sound or the take off:) just be prepared for hefty fuel bills:) this is goin back a few years , 25p a mile, but what a mile:)

Rocker Cover and Manifold

Filthy old stuff cleaned and replaced

Engine timed up

Rocker cover gaskets

New expansion tank

Engine Bay coming together
