dubbed_up_daz 0 Posted January 5, 2011 expanding a bit on my pictureless intro this is how I've came to my corrado ownership..... my old mk2 which I picked up as a solid but stock typ 19 in pretty good condition which ended up like this but I was getting worried about running it through winter so decided to sell mainly spurred on by finding a cheap mk3 dusty mauve vr with decent tax and mot although a complete bin but ideal to pull to bits for the engine.Sold the mk2,phoned the guy to sort out when to get the car to be told he'd just sold it :mad2: Needing a daily for my 70 mile commute spurred on a VR based car hunt which surprisingly turned up my present corrado...... from the previous owners for sale
lilfuzzer 1 Posted January 5, 2011 Nice one mate where did you get it from I sure have seen it around the plate looks familar oh and same colour as the one I bought recently :)
dubbed_up_daz 0 Posted January 5, 2011 I bought the corrado from Inverness :D there were a few issues up with the car,abs disconnected, quite a few little parking dinks and a couple larger dings,ds c piller and quarter panel has seen something fall down and off it and the passenger side has fell off a jack at some point damaging the sill and wing and the rear ps quarter has had something squeeze past it,the exhaust was blowing from a few places and the brakes felt pretty bad. When I checked it over when buying it the rears looked fairly shot and the front discs were heavily lipped although had some life left on it. None of this concerned me as I was getting the car at a good price and at the time was still set on using the engine in my mk1 and it came with some decent stuff like the mint OG interior, koni adjustables and all the usual sell on when breaking bits were sound.... ran it for a few weeks sorting little bits and bobs, the exhaust got real loud real quick and looking under it on a two poster the car was solid but the exhaust had had the first silencer chopped out and was blowing from either end of the bridging pipe section as was the suitcase silencer which had seen a few repairs previously...cut it all out and replaced it with some 2 1/2" tube up to the rear scorpion silencer it sprung a leak from the top matrix hose at the factory join so chopped out the perished section and replaced with copper and rejoined it which cured it picked up a set of phase II boxster S rims and refurbed them in gloss black trialled them on and round about thinking about how to go about rolling the arches I decided I loved the damn thing as it ran sweet as a nut and was rediculously fun so Id get the arches done right and get a little paint thrown over it to straighten up the bad bits... then the weather hit
Abdul 0 Posted January 5, 2011 Nice Vr dude, can't wait to see what you do with it. Mk2 was killer!
lilfuzzer 1 Posted January 5, 2011 The porsche rims loook mint mate will really suit the car. Guess I must ahve seen some pics of it in the past I guess as too far away from me. Is it sherry or bordeaux as looks sherry in the top pic but bordeaux with porsche rims on. Sounds like you've had a few problems but nice to know to sticking with it. good on you bud
dubbed_up_daz 0 Posted January 5, 2011 Thanks, loved my mk2 and luckily its went to a good homeI think its bordeaux, code reads lc3y :confused4: kinda fouled up progress a lot in various ways,id done a deal to swap the Koni adjustables for a set of stainless bodied fk highlines but the guy I was swapping them with couldnt get his mk3 near a garage to get his off let alone let me get mine off either then the weather started taking its toll. The roads were horrendous with the snow freezing overnight then getting more and then refreezing which led to a vac hose falling onto the exhaust header and picking up a high idle but chopped it out and replaced and rerouted it so it wouldnt happen again. Attempting to rescue my sisters car with a jump start proved my undoing though, her drive is like everest and had to really pull on the h/brake then sit for ages as her dead diesel battery(mk3 tdi)received enough of a charge to crank over.... probably something to do with the almost constant -10 degree i reckon my coolant system was verging on almost ice, looking back it was obvious I needed more antifreeze than I added when the top hose had been leaking but lesson learned but my car randomly over heated just after leaving my sisters. This turned into a nightmare as pulling over to investigate my handbrake refused to work and the inside of my car suddenly started misting up :( turns out my rear brakes are shot probably from the cables icing and the heater matrix is away which led me here for hopefully a picture filled how to to replace it
coullstar 0 Posted January 5, 2011 That was sold on here to the guy in Inverness who also had a few threads. IIRC he had a few little issues with the car when he first got it. Wheels look good, my mates looking for a sey for his Boxter S if you change your mind about fitting them. They really are love and hate cars.
lilfuzzer 1 Posted January 5, 2011  another bordeaux mint. My main one is the same colour black rims just do the business with that colour in my eyes. Shame about the troubles mate but sounds if though your a bit handy so shouldnt be a problem. Pretty sure theres plenty of threads on heater matrix. The handbrake seized on mate. H ad that happen to mine before I tend to leave it off now in cold weather even though I have new cables on it good luck with the fixing and looking forward to seeing the rims being on
dubbed_up_daz 0 Posted January 6, 2011 I think it had abs problems and various other stuff but hoping to fix it as I go. Rear brake issue solved itself finding these in my spare room going to take them into work along with the octavia vrs calipers I bought off a mate on monday and ill give them all a rub down and paint them all the same colour and then ill pair to 312s on the front and new rear standard discs the boxster S rims ive already sold as I decided to go with some speedlines I had kicking about in my spare room... and yeah bobby ill be lowering it slightly ;) as for the project four title ive a couple other cars going and really didnt need another project project 1.slow(very slow build, hopefully not when built,to be vr'd at some point) project 2..go(tuned kr,stripped, solid mounted, poly bushed, track bound) project3...low(low)

Ordered some bits im just waiting on arriving at my local Ding depot which should be ready to be picked up shortly
dubbed_up_daz 0 Posted January 6, 2011 little stash... 312s for front, new rears, pads all round, handbrake cables, rear wheel bearings, heater matrix still waiting on the C&R hoses coming but thatll give me time to clean up my callipers and repaint them, hopefully get the matrix fitted tomorrow :gag: and the brakes by the end of next week

dubbed_up_daz 0 Posted January 6, 2011 my ltp is the wrong kind of coupe for a project thread here lol ;) plus ive not touched it in two years plus really just due to needing a little break that ended up pushed behind a sucession of 'daily drivers'. The mk1 golf is currently waiting on new rear drums and shoes fitted to an axle I seam welded,a new master cyl;inder and a new fuel pump. Intending to get it running right then decide to go further with the KR or break the Audi and throw the 20vT into the mk1.The audi is waiting on me fabbing a down pipe to properly decat it but more to lift the front of the system and then some front coilover modifications to regain more travel and allow me to get it a bit further down. Doing as much off the work myself means stuff takes ages fitting it in between my usual two jobs
lilfuzzer 1 Posted January 6, 2011 Sounds good mate plenty of plans :) looking forward to the progress
dubbed_up_daz 0 Posted January 6, 2011 its my daily so matrix tomorrow hopefully so I can get back to work properly then brakes as soon as I get the hoses as I can get by without a handbrake just now
dubbed_up_daz 0 Posted January 8, 2011 left and went over to my mates at the back of 2 but he'd been held up so never got started on work till half 4 and we had to swap the wheels on his mk6 over first as he's trading it in,started mine about 5pm'ish,it was cold(minus3)but clear and we got a decent start on it but halfway through getting the dash bolts out it started chucking it down with snow  persevered, cursed, cursed some more, cursed a lot :censored: ,got the windscreen dash bolts undone and the matrix out and stopped for coffee and a hot roll... went back out after the break and got stuck in to rebuilding it and finished buttoning up the lower panels at 11.30pm still snowing like a mofo. 20 minute drive home took an hour as the roads were insanity but no turkish bath and plentiful heat once again  took two pics but my camera was severely dying so it was very rough highlights ill try and get them up tomorrow but right now time for a brew and then bed
dubbed_up_daz 0 Posted January 8, 2011 Kinda shy on pictures but we got there... bout 6pm we had most of the internals removed and disconnected while it was still dry then the snow started, managed to get the dash out and stopped for a breather highly detailed picture to show positioning of frozen scotsmen in idiocy mode...think this was about half ten and we just had the new matrix in,starting to rebuild up the heater box assembly and bones of the dash 11pm'ish,dash in and wiring roughly back in place, matrix connected in bay,car started and double checking plugs are all working and lights are all working, heater is all working 12:30am,home kettle on,picture for posterity I usually take more pictures off stuff like this but it was just a bit hectic :gag: Huge thanks to my mate who gave me a hand and use of his drive which was fairly sheltered :salute:
Philuk 0 Posted January 8, 2011 excellent job mate! liking the look of the mk1 track beast! got any more pics of all the other cars you have aswell ;)
dubbed_up_daz 0 Posted January 10, 2011 I think theres 43 pages worth on one photobucket account for the jetta build alone,I usually take lots of pictures lol. The mk1 golf started as a 1.1 carb changed it to a 1.3 carb then fitted a 1.3 polo digifant injected motor before doing the KR conversion so thats got a rake of photos too. closest my jetta ever got(built and stripped it three times over the years)cant post the pics as theyre over 800 pixels wide :( http://s44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/V ... 1QQtppZZ16 had it almost completed, just needed a bit wiring but it had picked up a couple of scratches and stuff so the plan was to just do a windows out and jams sprayed again but I found too much of the original gambia red and a couple bad bits of rust from when it sat in my brothers garden storing for a couple years so decided one last build, stripped every nut and bolt and got the shell sand blasted so when I get back round to it it should look like it came from the factory in dragon green
dubbed_up_daz 0 Posted January 10, 2011 first day back at work and I do my own stuff all afternoon haha gave them a clean, ready for paint tomorrow or thursday came home after chasing up C+R about my hoses and when they would get here and..........they were behind the door waiting on me getting home lol so thats everything bar the painting ready for fitting on friday
dubbed_up_daz 0 Posted January 11, 2011 sorry for the rubbish pictures but my phones battery died as the corrado also nearly did....heading home from work merging with slow moving rush hour traffic at the bottom of the motorway slip road, moved over into a gap between a pugeot and a truck, pugeot slowed to let the car in front of me in then picked up again, truck never and collected my rear quarter and almost spun me right round :( I felt the car skewing and steered into it and started feeding in gas as the truck never felt like slowing and almost got jammed clean under the front. Going via the bodyshop for a quote tomorrow morning then ill contact the trucks company and see whats happening and go from there
