MFA doing funny things!!!!

Hi ive just noticed over the last few days my mfa mpg reading only showing about 7.5 mpg!!!!! I havent been driving it that hard!!!! It usually says about 25 ish. Is it knackered or just on its way out? Any ideas would be appreciated, regards Sapdey

there's a Vaccuum hose that runs from the engine to the back of the clocks... I'd lay money on it being frayed at one end, or being loose... ;) 8)

Hey spadey!

Have you tried in the hidden modes of the MFA, such as instant consumption, and digital RPM meter on MFA also?

Give it a try... Then tell me something!

Hi mate, how do I find the hidden modes on my mfa? Let me know and I will try it. Also how do I access the vaccum pipe? Cheers Spadey

There have been threads on this in the past.. might be worth a quick search as I'm sure you'll find something. IIRC it involves pressing and holding the button on the end of the stalk and then turning engine on, couldn't tell you anything more though as the later mfa's didn't have this feature...

Check Mode Test

 

 

Check mode test verifies MFI is operating with the correct base vehicle information

 

a. set MFI memory switch to position 2

b. switch ignition ON

c. press and hold MFI select button

d. switch ignition OFF, then back ON

e. release mode select button

 

Function Times mode pressed Mode/symbol inciated

 

1 - Test sum of programmed bytes

2 - Intake manifold vacum (mbar)

3 - Engine rpm

4 - Momentary fuel consuption

5 - Signal from speed sensor

6 - Oil temperature (degrees F or C)

7 Ambient(outside) temp (degrees F or C)
