Number plate rust done, now for the sills. Hopefully nothing hiding under there otherwise I won't be making an appearance at Stealth :(

Did exactly the same repair on my (replacement) tailgate - the rust wasn't bad but it was worth fixing before it got worse. I attacked the insides with a dremmel, which, with the pointy-grinder attachment just about reaches all the way in, then like you I topped off with Kurust and then followed up with a good etch primer. Unfortunately as I needed to grind beyond the lights plinth to where it was visible, so I ended up painting the whole of the panel beneath the plinth to get it blended in properly.

 

Good luck with the sills - I checked mine last week and the one which had a small rust bubble on the lip where it joins the rear arch turned out to be solid, and the side that looked solid had a rotten lip! If your wheels are off, also take the opportunity to clean up inside the arch around the fuel filler (if you didn't already when you did the welding on that side) - mine looks perfect from the outside, but the underseal is starting to separate slightly and rust is starting to form on the inside around the filler hole. Treatable if you get to it early, but once it's visible from the outside it's a cut and weld job.

Some bad news :( Due to staff sickness I won't be able to start the sills until Sunday. So it definately won't be ready for the Rolling Road. Probably unlikely it'll be ready until next weekend :( Nevermind.

Just a quick update. The car is now all done, just needs to be polished tomorrow :)

 

Not before I've headed to the Tyre Shop tomorrow and got my winter wheels sorted :) Pics tomorrow if I get it cleaned in time.

who does your paintwork or do you do it yourself?

My Dad and I did it :) To be honest there are still a little few bits to finish off. He brought the shine back to the bonnet but it has been previously painted and the chips he touched up have been quickly replaced with others. He believes it's due to no hardener being used on the primer when it was last painted. Like everything else on a Corrado its ongoing process!

 

 

TT bushes fitted today, along with balls joints, anti roll bar links (the originals have bent slightly after 100,000 miles!) and an oil change :)

 

The original bushes were about 80% worn and wern't far off splitting. I couldn't believe the difference the TT ones made. Feels much more agile at speed now :)

Right, where do I start!

 

After being without a second car for two months the itch started and I snapped up a 2000 'X' E39 BMW 520 Auto Estate from work. Fully loaded with cream leather, cruise, climate control, full BMW history etc etc. It had done 100,000 miles so the front was stone chipped to hell, but when you pay £1000 such things are irrelevant.

 

Had it for 24 hours and as it was an Estate thought it would suit my brother better, so I ended up selling it to him for what I paid for it.

 

So, the plan was to wait for the next bargain to appear at work. Which happened much faster than I thought! A 2004 Jaguar S Type 3.0 SE manual with 100k and finished in Racing Green. Being an 04 model it was the facelifted galvanised model (not the earlier problematic one based on the Lincoln) has leather and electric everything (nav and phone prep are only things missing), full independent Jag specialist history. Not a scratch or dent on it. I won't state how little I paid for it but lets just say it was below £2000....

 

Anyway, I picked the Shaguar up today from work and 10 miles home a deer decides to commit suicide and run in front of me...

 

Result? £200 in second hand parts (with the possibility of a broken air con rad) plus painting and weekends work. Just my luck :(

 

But either way, still costing me less than £2000 even with the little mishap ;)

Oh, and I suppose a saving grace is that I didn't hit the deer in the Corrado. Otherwise I reckon it would've ended up in my windscreen!

Know how you feel, i have hit a deer twice now (not the same one :)) but both times was so thankful it wasnt the rado!

I hit a dear in my Corrado, not pretty
