nsmjl02 0 Posted February 18, 2011 Further update, Took the car back to the VW dealers to replace the pipework around the PCV valve and true to their word they replaced it free of charge. OK it was probably them who bust it whilst completing the service but it must have been on it's last legs anyway. I expected some hassle here but left a pretty happy customer. I haven't had much time to do anything with the car the last week or so but have bought a few bits ready to fit post re-spray. List now includes Tape deck (second hand) - fitted and looks much neater than the standard storage space Safety kit (second hand) - hopefully never to be used but just for completeness Front indictors (new) - both the current indictors are cracked Rear wiper cap (new) - the current one was broken and discolored Rear lights (second hand) - one of the current indictors is cracked Door rubber (second hand) - tried to buy new but unavailable from dealer Roof rails (new) - not cheap but both the current ones are bust Carpet runner (second hand) - one of the current ones has a broken end Window trim (new) - one is distorted and both will be coming off during the respray I did also ask about the external door and back panel rubbers at the dealers but was advised that these are also unavailable so I guess I'm just going to have to give the current rubbers a bit of a clean and refit after the respray. They are good condition but depending on cost I probably would have just replaced with new if available. Will post a few more pics when I get the chance. Diesel Junior 0 Posted February 18, 2011 This is a great thread, one of the best - and in a damn nice area of the world too! Keep the pics coming, would love to see one of the 'tape player' to see how it looks. Which one did you get? Keep us all posted!
nsmjl02 0 Posted February 18, 2011 Thanks Diesel Junior. If you like this thread then you re going to love C5 OEM’s thread, that guys attention to detail is awesome. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?49025-C5-OEM&highlight=oem I've attached a couple of pics of the dash with the tape holder fitted. Not sure how many storm models have a tape deck fitted instead of the CD player and to be honest I would have preferred to have the CD but the chap who bought this car new requested that it be supplied with the tape deck instead of the standard CD player !?! nsmjl02 0 Posted February 22, 2011 Guys, Further update. I've now spent several hours giving the engine bay it’s first clean in 16 years using Meguiars engine clean (3 bottles!!!) and Meguiars engine dressing (1 bottle) and think it has came up pretty well with some before and after pictures below. I will probably go over it again a few times and if I can build up the bottle I’d like to copy some of the other forum members and actually remove bits so that I can give it a proper clean. The next job is to get the underside of the bonnet cleaned up and I’m going to again take the lead from some of the other members and see about replacing/restoring the catches, stickers etc depending on cost and availability. Diesel Junior 0 Posted February 23, 2011 Hi did you use the engine cleaner on the inlet manifold? Did you use a wire brush or anything like it, it really looks good and would be interested to know. Thanks, the DJ
nsmjl02 0 Posted February 23, 2011 Diesel Junior, I think it looks better in the picture than it actually is and I'll be going over it a few more times. I just used a kitchen scouring pad and some oven cleaner as well as the Meguiars engine clean. I like the wire brush idea.

I did wire brush/black and decker combo with WD40 sauce a couple of years ago. Recent coating of G12+ helped as well:bonk:

Bullfinch 0 Posted March 15, 2011 Ker-ching! Dare I say most these spare/replacement purchases have been cosmetic. In terms of more substantial items do you know if the timing chains etc have been done?

nsmjl02 0 Posted July 18, 2011 Guys, I'm still alive and the C has been running great. I've just moved house and spent the last 4 months or so trying to get the place up to scratch before we moved in. Heaps more to do mind you so the restoration of the C is going to have to take a bit of a back seat, but ! I will still be giving it a good clean most weekends and continue to enjoy driving her on the great roads around these parts. Just need to decide wether to fit all the bits I've been buying now or leave them until I can save up the funds for the respray? comments welcome. nsmjl02 0 Posted October 11, 2011 Guys, The Storm has just sailed her way through the latest MOT so decided to treat her to a bit of a pre winter polish.

nsmjl02 0 Posted May 7, 2012 Guys, I'm sad to say that I've found a replacement for the storm so it's up for sale including all the stuff that's listed in this chain but excluding the plate. I have yet to advertise it properly but would prefer to sell it to an enthusiast if possible. It must be one the lowest mileage (105k) and original Storms around with a full (VW) service history from new and only one family owner before me. Not sure what it's worth but going to list it at 4.5K and see if any offers come in.
Rams 0 Posted May 8, 2012 Shame your selling such a lovely car, I'm sure someone will snap it up. Those last 2 pictures should drum up enough attention. All the best
nsmjl02 0 Posted May 8, 2012 Rams, Thanks and if I had the space I'd keep it for sure. Corrado's are such nice cars with a bit of a statement about them. There just cool.
4eyes2wheels 0 Posted May 8, 2012 Sure this won't be around for long. Wish I could justify buying it.
