Exhaust noise

Recommended Posts

I’ve just bought a ’94 2L 16v Corrado. Everything with the car is fine except a noise from the exhaust under acceleration – normally between 2-3000rpm. At idle everything sounds fine, but as the revs pick up a rattling noise appears to come from the front of the exhaust. Additionally I can feel a seemingly linked vibration through my feet in the driver’s footwell. Any suggestions as to the cause of this problem and what action I may need to undertake.

Cheers

most likely a loose heatsheild, check the one underneath the CAT, if its broken either get it removed or get a large jubilee clip put round it

Yup CAT Heatshield guarnteed..... dont bother welding it as it will only break again... get yourself a jubilee clip and tighten it up round it like said above.

DONT REMOVE IT!!! - There has been some coverage about people removing them and finding in summer when parked on grass the heat from the CAT can light the grass up! :o:o

Its there for a reason!!!

Same prob on mine m8, fixed with a jub-lee clip, only it's come loose. So more crawling round under the car for me when the weather gets warmer :).

I'm wondering about wrapping it in that tape you can get to temp fix wholes in exhausts. If it comes loose again I may try it, I'll post my results if I do on the forum.
