(Relatively) Recent Storm Purchaser, feeling light in the wallet!

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

Back at the start of February one of my boyhood dreams came true and I finally purchased my first car (at the ripe old age of 29!) There were many lifestyle reasons for not owning a car up until this point, but I knew that when I finally took the plunge, it was going to have to be a car that made me look back longingly at it as I walked away having parked it. I was lucky enough to find a Pearl Green Storm with one careful owner, and am now a very proud owner and member of this forum. I promise to upload photos shortly, just not had a chance yet. I've loads of questions about little changes and upgrades that other people have talked about on this forum, though am feeling a little light in the pocket of late given the need to get a new exhaust (the original was on its last legs when purchased) but would really appreciate some input from you experts on the following:

1. Uprated Headlight Loom - Worth it? Still available? Anyone fit them?

2. Windscreen Wipers - Best to go with Lupo Conversion?

3. Leather Seat improvement - The wear is in the usual places, and is absolutely mint in the back of the car and throughout, but wondered if anyone was aware of really good treatments for the leather that will at least avoid it getting any worse.

4. BBS Centre Caps - Missing one following an annoying bump in the road, does anyone know of how to source the 57mm versions for the original wheels?

5. Alloy wheel restoration - Anyone recommend the best place to have done? Also thinking of changing the rims and keeping the originals good, suggestions welcome.

Am sure more questions will pop up, but any tips greatly appreciated.

Firstly congratulations on your first purchase, although unfortunately you will now be forever doomed like I am of never ever being able to sell your corrado so most likely your first car will be your only car!

1. Uprated Headlight Loom - Worth it? Still available? Anyone fit them?

Yes, yes and yes. You can either make a loom yourself, Kevhaywire has just put a wiring diagram up in his build thread, buy one from a guy on here or from D&G autotech and fitting is easy peasy!

2. Windscreen Wipers - Best to go with Lupo Conversion?

Theres a thread about the conversion on here, I have got TT wipers but others go for lupo, not much difference so its whatever you get hold of.

3. Leather Seat improvement - The wear is in the usual places, and is absolutely mint in the back of the car and throughout, but wondered if anyone was aware of really good treatments for the leather that will at least avoid it getting any worse.

You could try a website like elite car care or cleanyourcar.co.uk, their forums might have a bit of info but I can't help with that, I love my cloth interior!

4. BBS Centre Caps - Missing one following an annoying bump in the road, does anyone know of how to source the 57mm versions for the original wheels?

Try ebay, justmatz, edition38 or other car related forums

5. Alloy wheel restoration - Anyone recommend the best place to have done? Also thinking of changing the rims and keeping the originals good, suggestions welcome.

Depends how much your wanting to spend, I would just take my wheels to a local powder coating place or if they aren't too bad have a go yourself, you may be pleasantly surprised. As for aftermarket wheels its personal preference, in my opinion wheels make the car!

Hope thats some help!

Ianjudomac,

I used pristine for the refurb of my solitudes and they are excellent.

you can also see the results and products used on my leather tidy up but the leather on my C was pretty goog in the first place and just needed a good clean.
