J Corrado 0 Posted April 17, 2011 I've had a look but can't find a similar thread. Having trouble with the drivers side handbrake. Replaces both cables but the drivers side is really stiff. Tried to free off the silver attachment which is on the brake caliper as facing but really tight. Does anyone know if thos mechanism can be removed. It looks similar to a brake piston that moves up and down as the handbrake is applied. Also looks like it has some sort of inner plastic/rubber coating but notsure. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks
Kempy 0 Posted April 17, 2011 You can buy a kit to refirb the caliper but it sounds like yours might be getting seized up so you might need a new one or a upgrade, mk3 or mk4 golf are good
Supercharged 2 Posted April 17, 2011 Yeah sounds like a knackered caliper to me - MK4 ones are the way forward!
