Struggling to open drivers door

Today my drivers door handle has decided to play up.

 

When I pull it to open it nothing seams to happen. The inside handle works fine just the out side one I have ti putt several times before it opens and even then you dont feel any thing in the handle to indicate that its doing anything.

 

Any Ideas?

striker coiuld be on its way out? but if the door does open from the outside not sure if it may be this?

It is a delocked handle as well possible passat

An obvious one have you checked the bolt that holds the handle to the car ?? Mine was a bit loose and had similar probs to yours

passat striker pin or whatever you call it (the downward pointing plastic tipped lever bit on the inside of the door on the back of the lock barrel) is shorter on the passat than corrado handle, I found you had to adjust the screw out plastic end as far as it would go to work the release lever when we fitted a passat handle and matching side lock to a friend's car.

Could be this.

ahh right is that done from the inside of the door or not

no you'll have to take the handle off the door to get to the white plastic screw on the end of the striker, like david says it has to be fully srcewed out to catch the mech

I had a similar issue but found after a good spray with some lube, seems good as new.

hi have you fixed?? ...... if not sounds like same prob i had .....Item number: 170576915475 try this on ebay i got it works like new now :) ....... be careful though you defo need a vice and the pin that holds it in is toughened steel bit of a nightmare getting the old pin out! hope this helps
