Advice Please

Recommended Posts

Hello all

Just wanted some advice on selling my Rado.

Been watching some on ebay and they don't seem to be selling well.

I see it's all changed on here with placing an add. Would rather sell it though here.

Regards

Forget ebay. Get advertising it on the forums first. Here is the best place to start being a Corrado forum

Also, plenty of pics and pile as much RELEVANT information into your ad.

Is it best to try here 1st ? or piston heads? ebay? Autotrader?

Does it cost any thing to place an add here?

R people buying them at the mo?

I got to sale as it as it's now a 3rd car (not being used) but i want it to go to someone who will look after her.

Breaks my heart to sell her.

I'll sort out info and pic's and look at getting it on here asap.

Is there a time limit on add?

Pistonheads may also be another good place to start. But definately the forums.

It doesnt cost anything to post on the forums, it CAN also be free on pistonheads but i would personally spend the £12 to put it on PH, otherwise your ad will be right at the end of all those peeps who have paid. Dont think there's a time limit on here, but Jim, being a mod, will be able to give you a definate answer to that.

Are they selling - i dont know, but patience may be needed.

Good luck.

I suspect if you want to get rid quickly it's best to place adverts in as many places as possible to maximise visibility - I bought my first C off eBay in a drunken moment and only discovered this site later on (when I bought my second!)

It's free to advertise on here and most discerning buyers will be on here but they will really know their stuff and will drive a hard bargain.

Supply does appear to be outstripping demand at the moment but a good car at the right price will sell.

Good luck,

So the best bet is to get a Classified ad on here.

Click on Classifieds on the menu bar then Post Classified on the menu bar below.

I'm sure a Mod will be along soon to confirm if this is right or if there is a minimum number of posts or time on the forum before you can advertise.

Would love some feed back on my car thats for sale on here please.

Are people just not buying or am i asking to much for her. I paid £1800 (up for only £1200 now) for her 4 years ago and she is as good as she was then.

Can someone take a look at add and tell me what they think please.

She's a Black 2L 16V

Looks fine to be honest. My only question is, you dont mention tax?

I think it could well be a case of just being patient. With Summer approaching the car market generally tends to pick up a bit. But being patient is the key and dont go dropping the price suddenly.

It's not taxed.

We're not in a mad rush to sell it but just sad seeing it sit on our drive.

Well its done my car is now on ebay

Hubby has put a low recerve on it (only £800) as he is fed up with it being on the drive. I've got to bite the bullet and let it go cheap Grrrrr

Title is - 1992 VOLKSWAGEN CORRADO 16V BLACK

Lots more pics on there.

Are people just not buying

It would appear not. There's 86 Corrados for sale on Pistonheads, the most I've ever seen on there. 2 pages on here. 20 on Autotrader and 52 on Ebay. Obviously some of those are advertised in more than one place, but even so, the best spring / early summer we've had for years and they're not shifting. Winter is usually the dead period for car sales.

Still, car sales in general have apparently hit their lowest since the 1940s, so the whole market is gradually slowing down. It had to really. With fuel the way it is and Audi charging 20K for a stupid little A1, it was just unsustainable.

I'm waiting for a Merc E55 AMG estate to fall to 3K and then I'm in there :D

Wasn't the scrappage scheme meant to 'fix' this? i.e. getting rid of the huge surplus of 'old bangers' clogging up the market, so that the car industry could continue to churn out millions of new cars and not have to adapt to a changing market/environment/world?

God its so gutting that that there are so many for sale.

"There are Hearts breaking wide open all over the world tonight" (quote from a top film)

I can't bring myself to look at Toad when i leave the house. I know I have a fab replacement car (subaru Impreza turbo, wagon) but it doesn't have the same feeling as the Rado (hubby thinks i'm loop de la)

I was thinking the other day how few Escorts and things there are on the roads these days, so maybe it did work? Just not enough perhaps? Maybe the majority of the old heaps had rusted into the scrap heaps by themselves, leaving behind a lot of well built 90s cars (like Corrados for instance) that still needed to be scrapped (in the eyes of the government), but were too good to be scrapped, if you follow me? LOL

I think the main problem is companies like Audi and BMW making too many cars for every conceivable market. "You want a 500hp X5? Sure, we got that, have an X6M". "You want a pumped up Mini but don't want a 4x4 or an Estate?, Sure, get the Mini Countryman". "You want a silly little car for urban chique but don't want a full size convertible? Have a Suzuki Cappucino". And so the list carries on.....

Back in the good old days, you had the choice of Saloon, hatchback & estate, and that was it. And if you were rich, you could buy a "sports" car. I wish it would get back to that again. And I wish even more for pointless cars like the Mercedes R class and Audi Q7 to be completely erradicated. I can't see over, through or around the bloody things. It's like following a van and I'm breathing in tonnes of CO from their V12 engines at the same time.....

Agreed... there are far too many 'why?' cars out there at the moment. I'm one of three kids, and I don't remember my parents needing a Land Rover 90 or Space Cruiser, even when we were all in our teens (a good old 5 door MK2 Golf GTI sufficed!)

Though in the good old classification system, where would a FWD 2+2 coupe fit in? :-)

I also think part of the need for the scrappage scheme was due to the scourge of galvanised body shells - those pesky cars from the 90s just wouldn't rot quick enough.

Tricky, I've now had 4 people get in touch asking for a buy it now price on ebay.

Have said i'll take £1000 for it but what if they all want it?

Do I say it goes to the highest offer?
